Blogdom's Best: St. Louis Cardinals

More than any other sport, baseball lends itself to individual blog obsession. Every Major League Baseball team has several blogs obsessed with chronicling the ins-and-outs of everything. Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each team. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours even) for selection, just let us know at tips@deadspin.com. Today: The St. Louis Cardinals.

There are some pretty fantastic Cardinals blogs out there, but we still feel the absence of the great Redbird Nation, which chronicled the 2004 in such loving, brilliant detail that this season hasn't quite seemed the same. (They even made a book out of it.) Author Brian Gunn — now writing for The Hardball Times — made it even more fun to be a Cardinals fan. The best Cardinals bloggers now aren't quite up to that level — yet — but they certainly make up one of the best team blogging communities on the Web.

3. The Birdwatch. A collective blog — one that we once said we would be a part of before getting lazy and never actually doing any posts — with a strangely cool logo and much thought and pathos. Cut from the Gunn thought.
2. Cardnilly. More personal than your average team blog, but that's hardly a bad thing; this is well-written, smart and warm. Though they might be regretting that whole "these Cardinals are done" post right about now.
1. Viva El Birdos. Community driven, soulful, endlessly entertaining commentary. We've actually gotten to the point that we're checking this site during games. That's the ultimate compliment.
