White Sox Pitcher Danny Farquhar Is Home From The Hospital
credits: Orlin Wagner | source: [object Object] Over two weeks after he collapsed in the dugout during a game, White Sox relief pitcher Danny Farquhar has been discharged from the hospital and returned home, according to a statement released by the team today. Farquhar had suffered a brain hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm on April 20, after he finished pitching the sixth inning in a game against the Astros.
Initial updates on Farquhar’s condition were pretty scary, with White Sox vice president Ken Williams saying that the pitcher was “in the fight of his life right now,” a few days after the collapse. Farquhar underwent multiple surgeries, and questions remain over whether he’ll ever play baseball again.
The White Sox statement says that the 31-year-old Farquhar’s neurosurgeon “expects (him) to be able to pitch again in the future.” But he will not be cleared to play at all in 2018, so any possible future appearances are still a long way off.
