OK, so now football is over. We can all move in with our lives, with a newfound focus on the America East conference and the MEAC. But don't worry: Spring Training is so freaking close now.
Yep, the delay is shorter than you think, or than we realized. Eight teams are requiring pitchers and catchers to report on February 13: The Orioles, Cubs, Astros, Royals, A's, Phillies, Giants and Mariners. (Most of those teams look like they could use the extra day.) And then there are spring training games, and then there are real games, and this whole football season will be long past us, and we'll be back to a sense of normalcy.
February's a long month, kids. Let's try to hang in the best we can.

Bobby Knight resigns at Texas Tech
That is a beautiful sight.
Don't forget the Caribbean series is happening as we speak!
Pitchers and Catchers may report next week, but Mr. Granderson will be showing up the next five years!

Fuck, the Mariners better open up camp with Bedard in the fold.
A Lubbock paper is reporting it. Nothing has been confirmed. Cite your sources, people.
And of course, you'll notice nothing on ESPN.com because none of their reporters has "confirmed" anything yet.
@Yostal: Must be nice, having the second-best Centerfielder in the AL Central sign for the long term.
@Yostal: I'm going with the wooo and the hooooo. :)
@UkraineNotWeak: Spring Training my man.

Note that there is a lack of gunshots and chair throwing in that statement.

BTW, the thing you wrote me on facebook made no sense. Are you feeling okay?
BTW, is that the new ballpark in DC? Looks nice.
@UkraineNotWeak: ahhh well then it MUST be true.
This is such an odd time of year to quit...I'm not believing anything until I hear from TTU and/or get a press conference or a dead body.
@notthequarterback: I will be sure to wear quick drying mesh to all games.

By the way, my random question of the night:
Are there any really famous celebrity (non-sports) college football fans, outside of Will Ferrell for USC and Matthew McConaughey for Texas? I know it's harder to find celeb fans in the stadia as opposed to say, college basketball, but anyone, thoughts.
Oh, yes, I miss football, why do you ask?

I keed, I keed, Curtis is a great player. Though I have a feeling locking up Miguel Cabrera might be a teeeeny tiny bit harder than locking up Robertson, Willis and Grandy.

Dude, I will cough on you if you don't watch it. I've been out of bed a whopping 2.5 hours all day, I've got about 6 minutes of feisty before I go crawl back in.
@PQ Crash:
You don't think the M's are giving up too much? Though I suppose since this *is* Bavasi, we can expect Bedard to be signed to a 6 year, 300 million dollar extension or somesuch.

@Becky_MI:
Toaster strudel is under the weather. Feel better.
Would it be wrong to hire someone to *almost* hit C.C. Sabathia with a car, so that he'd be more inclined to sign the proposed extension by the Tribe?
@Becky_MI: I managed to kick my sickness by busting out mad amounts of Zycam (the dissolvey tabs), sleeping more than anyone should, and drinking copious amounts of water. I'm 99.8% sure I was on the verge of strep too.
YOSTAL, Cal has Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz on the sideline every game. I know he's kind of a pussy and the Counting Crows kind of suck, but hey it fits in with Berkeley's always-choking football program.
Hey y'all.

David Keith and the Vols?
/lost relevance in the early 80's
@racistmascot_inc: I'll take a solid left-handed starter in Safeco Field before I'll take a chance on a prospect. Losing Sherill in the bullpen will be the biggest loss.
Honestly, yes, they're giving up too many players. However, Hernandez isn't a number one starter yet and the rest of the rotation sucked ass. The M's, if they want any chance to compete for the AL West, needed to get a pitcher like Bedard.
@Becky_MI: 6 minutes of feisty? So many directions to go with that one.
@UkraineNotWeak: Aw, thanks, it's been a beastly 48 hrs but feeling slightly better.
@kataroo_kangaroo: I got all ready for work today until it came time to blow dry, and I just couldn't do it. Went back to sleep and literally got out of bed for a half hour at lunch time and out for good at 5:25 p.m. I have to make a Kleenex run, will keep Zycam in mind!
@12-Inch Idongivafuck Sandwich: Shoulda been you, Coach K.
@PQ Crash:
But if they don't win the West, was it worth it? Losing Jones, Tillman and the two other mega-tall prospects sort of cleans out the cupboard. When do those mega-contracts come off the books and give them some payroll flexibility? If they could make a really big impact signing, say a C.C. Sabathia or someone of that caliber, it could vault them over the Angels.
@Lisa:
David Keith is still alive? What car wash is he working at?
Nice pic, nice pic.
Nationalcoholic and i thank you Will.
@notthequarterback:
We used to play six minutes of feisty at Jr. High parties, but then I got locked in the closet with "Uncle Fisty".....
@notthequarterback: Wocka wocka wocka. Apparently you've got more fight than me tonight. I'd make a comment about you pouncing on a sick girl, but god knows where you'd take THAT...
I really hope C.C. accepts the contract extension, 4 years/72 million is a really big deal for the Tribe, I don't think we've ever offered that much guaranteed money to another player. I know he could get more years and more money on the open market, but so could Peavy, and he offered a hometown discount; besides, if he gets injured this year, no one is going to give him anything close to that much guaranteed money.
@Becky_MI:
You don't need six minutes to heat up a toaster strudel.
