I refuse to acknowledge anything as "the greatest" until Tom Brokaw deems it so.
The greatest highlight in my mind already has Berman's voice in it....he just keeps saying "Jeeezzzus Christ".
Yea I was watching the other night when they did Tiger's chip-in at the Masters and it's not only painful, but pathetic that Berman goes over these highlights like no one's ever seen them before. Why couldn't they just use the original audio?
Did "Who's Now?" even finish? Or is it still being narrowed down to the final 32?
Who's Now II: The Nowening
Was "skate to the throat" too late to be entered?
Did any on-air "leather" references make the list?
I accidentally saw Berman doing Hank Aaron's 715th the other day. It wasn't exciting.
I died a little on the inside.
@Marth:
So you can sleep tonight, Tiger Woods
/had to look it up on tWWL
@Illegal Immigrant: Amen. That fuckbucket ruins everything.
@Illegal Immigrant: Just wait until he recreates the "Do you believe in miracles?" highlight.
Whatever ESPN deems the "greatest", Aaron Ross's team will beat it within two weeks. go trojans go pats.
/hookem
Future Berman projects:
- reenactment of McKay at the '72 Munich Olympics
- reenactment of Kronkite announcing that JFK is dead
- reenactment of the Ice Bowl game on the "frozen tundra" - it is at this momnent that Berman's head will actually explode from self-satisfaction
I always felt that the Stanford-Cal highlight needed a healthy dose of WHAAAAP! and RUMBLIN' BUMBLIN' STUMBLIN' to make it a true classic.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: Super trampoline basketball maybe?
Speaking of which, I don't get why the Fisk home run is considered such a huge classic in baseball lore. Is it just the waving? It was Game six. Six of seven. They LOST the next night to LOSE the World Series. But to most baseball fans Fisk's home run is more memorable than, say, Joe Carter's, which ended the sixth game of a World Series but actually, you know, WON THE DAMN THING.
/touch 'em all, joe.
@rachel_nichols_is_hot: Agreed. I saw it this morning. The "back, back" call made my skin crawl.
@Kid Canada - Ummm, it was great because, in missing it, Robin Williams got to meet that chick who farted a lot, and then died.
/Likes apples
That video gives me the embarrassed feeling.
@Kid Canada:
Bill Mazeroski thinks Carter should grow a pair and try hitting one in Game 7.
@Paul Zuvella: Dont forget Berman in a hoodie on the observation deck on top of Tower 1 as the first plane is coming in from the background.
@racistmascot_inc:
And Joe reminds Maz that his team was losing in the bottom of the 9th when he hit his out, Maz's Pirates were tied.
