We knew we were in for a little different atmosphere at our St. Peter's, Missouri reading when we walked into the store and saw that the sign advertising our appearance had a piece of paper shielding the cover. The sensitive eyes of suburban St. Louis must be protected. Photos found here, if you can take any more.
Considering the reading was on Valentine's Day in the suburbs, we had a pretty solid crowd, all told, and we even got to talk obsessively about Rick Ankiel with people who actually understood. (Kind of.) And it allowed us to do the site today mere yards away from the Gateway Arch, and that's always a positive.
But anyway: Thanks, St. Peters. Next stop: Mattoon!

The dad in dadsonbonding looks like he's soiling his Dockers.
Has the Mayor of Mattoon proclaimed Will Leitch Day in honor of your visit? Will the kids get the day off from school?
Will is, indeed, exactly like Obama.
I see you got stuck in the ever-expanding Rachel Ray section of the store.
who's the "bear" on the right?

Canadians: Resemblance to Stephen Harper, just for that picture? I say yes.
Why St. Peter's? Couldn't handle the hustle and bustle of Old Monroe or Shrewsbury?
@ArkansasFred: "I knew I should have put on my Oops I Crapped My Pants."
So, Will, have we already gotten lazy enough where you are having others read your book for you? Expect nothing of the sort from me in DC.
Guy on the right is SO busted!
Wow! How did you get Bud Selig to show up?
whoa, whoa, whoa....
what's up with all the ladies in the suburbs?
Guy on the right is SO busted!
Look at those red, ruddy cheeks, though. I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes off of him, either.
From the attached article. A quote from Mr. Leitch:
"'This is Harper Collins,' he said. 'They're sending me out on this tour. Which is to say it needs to sell. And it could lead to other things.'"
A movie version of GSTF? Starring Dave Foley as Will Leitch?
@UkraineNotWeak: Come on -- you know Mattoon is an autonomous collective; an anarcho-syndicalist commune where the residents take turns acting as some sort of executive officer for the week.
@UkraineNotWeak: I still think he looks as much like James Spader as Dave Foley.
So that's what happened to Cpt. Riker.
The literacy rate in St. Peters, Missouri HAS to be below 25%
So this is what BJ Novak has been doing during the writers strike.

Can we pool together some money to get Will a second blazer?
Wow, there were at least four women at this stop. Five, if you count Rachael Ray (and I think you have to).
@UkraineNotWeak: I was thinking Martin Lawrence, myself.
Who knew South Africa had so many fans in good old Missourah!
Unless your book is about 30 minute recipes that involve rearranging food out of a box, GSTF is never getting any shelf space.
@UkraineNotWeak: GSTF: The Musical?
Who's the little red person kneeling under the table giving us the finger?
@MeSoHornsby:
Every time his flickr page comes up on Deadspin, I just start hearing Spader pimping out Julian in Less than Zero.
Anyone going to Mattoon?
Great to see that Mark Schlereth stopped by.
@Botswana Meat Commission FC:
Most.depressing.movie.ever
@Ray: I hate every ape I see. From chimpan-a to chimpanze.
@A Pimp Named Daver4470: At least that's better than having a king, which they could only have by exploiting the workers, by hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.
@lisa: Great movie if only for the fact that it showed Robert Downey jr and Spader can act. The other two could not.
@Dany Heatley Speedwagon: But who would play Dr. Zaius?
GSTF:The Theme Park.
I can't wait to go to Barbaroland.
@UkraineNotWeak:
The sequel where the Devil takes the fan back.
I think the coffee table book on the Transformers is just the thing I need for my apartment.

@lisa: You obviously haven't seen The Hottie and the Nottie yet.
@UkraineNotWeak: or ride the Berminator... wait, what?
@lisa:
Someone's never seen "Grave of the Fireflies."
RFAD was pretty damn depressing/hopeless too.
@crazyjoedavola:
I will give you that.
@Doyle McPoyle:
You are right sir...I am NOT one of the 14 people who have seen that classic.
@Ray: Is it a problem when I flip through Flickr pages and can't tell when one day stops and another begins?
Not that it would be any different if someone took pictures of me everyday.
@UkraineNotWeak:
GSTF: The Flamethrower.
The kids love it.
@Ray: there must be a You're With Me Leather number.
@UkraineNotWeak: Of course they get the day off.
/only because it's on a Saturday.
Don't forget AJ's solo in the second act.
re: the vacant stare -- even derek zoolander had more than one look (eventually).
@Doyle McPoyle: That's only because nobody has seen it.
I learned last night that Will remembers little things like the _ in your screen name when signing the book. I also learned that I was possibly the only one in the audience who had already read the book. And I also learned that reading Will's part is hard to do at a realistically fast pace in front of a live studio audience.
@UkraineNotWeak: I shudder to think what AJ solo might entail.
@theballadofrickeyfoggie: I think that is how our fearless leader is feeling right now.. Wake up in a hotel and your first thought is "Where the fuck am i?"
@Lady Andrea:
Michael Vick
Superstar,
How many dogs have you killed so far?
@UkraineNotWeak:
AJ's whole act is composed of soliliquys. And smoky tornadoes.
@Vizzini: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some
moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
You're with me, South Africa.
What?
No FutureGen references?
Sheesh.
The 32-year-old University of Illinois graduate is making a number of appearances in support of the book, including a signing at Waldenbooks, Cross County Mall in Mattoon, at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Sorry, mom, I'm skipping your birthday. We're going to Mattoon!
@NoCalAl: Word. True power flows from the people, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
@stealofthedraft: Fight you for her.
@NoCalAl:
Strange women, lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system of... Aw fuck it.
@Brad_Lee:
You were pretty good. I'm telling you, when you spoke, in my head I actually heard Zeus!
@AngryJoeMagrane: Next you'll want to see me fire lightning bolts out of my arse.
I'll need some good homemade chili to even think about that.
Will is so cute! I'm sorry I'm not around for the Boston signing--there better be lots of photos!!!!!
