Oh Good, Curt Schilling’s Company Is Going To Get More Help From The State

Oh Good, Curt Schilling's Company Is Going To Get More Help From The StateWhen last we left 38 Studios, Curt Schilling's beleaguered video games company, they had failed to pay their employees and bounced a loan repayment check to Rhode Island. Today they tried again, and they scraped together enough cash to cover their late $1.125 million payment—only with the help of a $100,000 personal check. (Nobody's saying who wrote that check.)

Here's what this means: 38 Studios doesn't owe another payment until next May. More than that, the company is now in good standing and becomes eligible for tax credits. The governor doesn't like it, but those were the terms of the loan. 38 Studios has applied for more than $20 million worth of tax credits spanning two years, credits they've already said they plan to sell to another firm for cold hard cash.
