Whether you love Brett Favre or hate him, he's the Michael Phelps of the NFL right now. That is to say, amidst clusters of other storylines and intrigue, he is the one guy everyone is watching. And while Favre's progress won't be as tangible as winning a gold medal or not, that will only add to the curiosity of what he can actually do for the New York Jets.

Favre took his team to the NFC championship last year. Favre has moved from the league's smallest market to its biggest. Favre is almost two years older than his head coach, Eric Mangini. And while he's quite a longshot to win football's highest prize, the week-to-week minutiae will far exceed anything one could absorb by watching a kid jump in and out of a pool.
