On Second Thought, I Won't Call A.J. Daulerio A Porny Douchebag

Over the next few days, we'll be roasting our former editor A.J. Daulerio, who has moved across the room to edit Gawker, your destination for Mark Zuckerberg upskirts. If you have an A.J. story to share, or if you would like to participate in some other way, please email craggs@deadspin.com. Lightly sourced slander is welcome. Our guest now is Rick Chandler, former Deadspinner and current editor of Off the Bench.

Random comments by my 16-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son upon reading my blistering denouncement of A.J. Daulerio:

"That's not how you spell 'douchebag.'"

"What's Oddjack? Is it porn?"

"Oh, so it's OK for some people in this house to use the f-word, but not others. I get the picture."

"This is worse than Glee."

"The swears are the only good part."

"I added my Christmas list at the end."

"What's a Baby Mangino?"

"Why is it so mean?"

"This is mean. This isn't you."

"I like it better when you're trying to be funny."

"You used to be a happy person."

"You have issues."

These are all true, recounted with as much accuracy as I can recall. So I scrapped my original draft, by popular demand. The moral I guess is that one shouldn't hold grudges or take oneself too seriously, because the people who really matter in life are the ones you love, not the ones you don't. And if the people you love have access to your computer, they will knock your ego down to size every time.
