Krystal Forthan had transferred from LSU to West Virginia just last month, after only one season in Baton Rouge. She's a 6-foot-4 former high school All-American, so her arrival in Morgantown was hailed as a coup for Lady Mountaineers coach Mike Carey. But before Forthan even enrolled at WVU, she changed her mind again. Turns out school and basketball are clashing with the sort of look she's really going for.
Carey told the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail he had tried to coax Forthan into staying, telling her she could use any notoriety from basketball to advance her aspirations. It didn't work. Here's the Daily Mail:
"She told us that she did not want to go to school and she was wanting to get into the professional world of modeling," Carey said. "She said she was not interested in going to school here."
Lisa Leslie and Brenna McGuire have both made successful transitions from basketball to modeling, so why not Forthan? On the whole, the business is probably less exploitative than the NCAA anyway.
