A chin-strapped, goateed Vince Carter took off against the Thunder last night and, with a quick spin-move into the block and a graceful reverse dunk, returned us all to a time when he was Half Amazing. Carter has been in the league for 12 years and he's still averaging close to 15 points per game for the Suns and still throwing down dunks like this when he wants to. We haven't had too much of a Blake-reel on the site ever since he dunked over a car and hyped a football recruit, but here he is. Against Phoenix on Sunday, Blake Griffin took a pass from Mo Williams off the pick-and-roll, threw this dunk over Marcin Gortat's head, and got called for the offensive foul. It was his sixth of the game, and he racked up a technical for the overreaction, but — in Suns coach Alvin Gentry's words — "That was one hell of a dunk." Gentry added, "I don't care if it was a charge. That might be as impressive of a dunk as I've seen in the NBA in 23 years. I think that was the best dunk he's had since he was in the league." The Clippers lost 108-99, and Griffin was just 6-for-18 from the field with two boards, but at least there was this. More »
