At 78 years old and after 28 years on the job, Dick Enberg is calling his final matches from Wimbledon this year. He'll wrap up his ESPN tennis contract at the US Open in a few months, and then he'll go home to San Diego to call games for the Padres. We're afraid that Enberg might not have the opportunity to tell stories about "bloody blue balls" in baseball, and that he definitely won't have Chris Evert next to him to keep his doddery in check — "I'll leave that one alone" — so we really have to appreciate this national treasure while we can. Yesterday's British Open didn't have the storybook ending Greg Norman probably would've hoped for, but two people that were probably thrilled Norman faltered in the final round yesterday were his ex-wife and current wife Chris Evert's ex-husband. Although rumors about a passionate affair between the two geriatric athletes were rampant during the time of their divorces, both Norman and Evert adamantly denied their lustful urges played any part in the dissolution of their marriages. Until now, that is, as Evert goes on record with Vogue admitting that she and Norman were just two star-crossed geezers looking to engage in all sorts of hip-breaking activities in the bedroom.
