Congratulations to the person/people who planted a tree between the pitching mound and home plate on the baseball field at Franklin (Ohio) High School. This is an excellent prank, even if the school’s athletic director wasn’t as impressed.

Via MaxPreps, athletic director Brian Bales learned about the tree Saturday, and said there would be consequences for the stunt:

“I got a call from our parks and recreation guy saying that we might have to cancel the doubleheader,” Bales said. “The weather was beautiful out, so I asked him what for. He told me there was a 25-foot tree planted between home plate and the pitcher’s mound.”

The tree was removed, though if it had stayed, pitchers could have worked on their movement by throwing around it. A lost opportunity.
