Eric LeGrand was a special teams player for Rutgers in October 2010, when he was paralyzed from the neck down after making a tackle against Army. His coach at the time was Greg Schiano, who often did his best afterward to make LeGrand feel like he was still a part of the team. And now that Schiano has moved on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he's bringing LeGrand with him. Today, the Bucs announced they have signed LeGrand to their 90-man offseason roster. Which is just cool. Meet Cimarron, the new incarnation of a Florida State mascot that apparently existed once but which nobody remembers. FSU already has a mascot, of course, a Native American named Chief Osceola who attempts to set fire to football fields while riding his trusty mount Renegade. Turns out Osceola isn't appropriate for certain audiences—specifically, anything involving kids—so FSU commissioned Cimarron a few months ago to have an fitting mascot to represent the university at certain events. This is what happened to the campus shuttle bus that collided this morning with Austin Stewart, a safety for the Texas Tech football team. Stewart was riding his motorized scooter when the collision occurred. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated, but a Texas Tech spokesman has described his injuries as minor. The photo was tweeted by Stewart's roommate, Chris Payne, a linebacker for the Red Raiders. The Texas Tech website lists Stewart as 6-foot-2, 202 pounds. The bus likely has no idea what hit it. Penn State and the Paterno family have quickly morphed from college football royalty to a sad episode of The Bickersons in a matter of months. After unceremoniously firing Paterno in the wake of his laissez-faire handling of the Jerry Sandusky allegations, the school offered certain concessions to the family in exchange for a full release, preventing the family from suing and speaking negatively about the school. They included renaming Beaver Stadium after Joe Paterno, an apology for having fired Paterno over the phone and honoring Paterno's contract.
