You know, it just occurred to me, HBO hasn't had a sports-related comedy series since Arliss. What's up with that?

@Paul Pierced Luol's Deng: Well now we know that you're not Bill Simmons' secret alias. And I, too, liked that show. But it's still lame.

@Weed Against Speed: What, all the sports-themed moments in other HBO shows don't do it for you? The Joe Pepitone jersey on Curb Your Enthusiasm? The Dodgers game episode with the hooker? That time Larry tripped Shaq? Or Mangenius on The Sopranos? Even Joey on Big Love used to be a backup QB for the Broncos, and has the Super Bowl ring to prove it.

@Hit Bull Win Steak: You could be right. They haven't mentioned his NFL career since the first season.

@Weed Against Speed: I'm kind of nervous about the show because the guys who wrote it admitted they didn't really know a lot about baseball. If you go to the website and look at his baseball cards, it's clear that whoever made the site never owned a baseball card (or doesn't remember what they look like).

@Bobby_Big_Wheel: He has the mullet and the goatee, that's all I need to believe he was an ex baseball player. That and proof of steroid use of course.

@Hit Bull Win Steak: I just realized that if Joey got his Super Bowl ring with the Cowboys, then he was around for the Michael Irvin/Charles Haley years. No wonder he moved back to Juniper Creek.
