-New England wanted to win that game by keeping the ball out of Manning's hands.
-The Colts D couldn't contain Brady the whole game.
-Belichick ran a play that had worked all night.
-NE's D couldn't stop Manning in the 4th.
-NE burned all its time outs.
So, kick the ball to the Colts and let your tired, old D that has been getting burned every time Indy touched the ball in the 4th defend John Elway II; -OR-
Make the Colts inexperienced D make a stop that they haven't been able to make all night and keep the ball in the hands of your unstoppable offense?
Not saying I wouldn't have punted, but I understand his logic.

@Peter Nincompoop: i thought i was the only one who realized that peyton + 2 mins + weak def = fail for the pats. going for it was right. Also i think the ball placement was wrong, but it's not guaranteed a first but def woulda been closer than the refs made it. #peytonmanning
