I think it’s fair to say that when Addison Russell was called up last season, most people were excited to see what he could do with his bat. He’s been just fine in that department—he’s hitting .243/.327/.426 with 19 homers this season—but he’s also proven himself to be one of the best defensive shortstops in the league. He’s got more defensive runs saved than Andrelton Simmons, and is tied with Brandon Crawford for the league lead among shortstops.
