Zuffa, the UFC's parent company, has sued New York officials in an attempt to overturn the state's idiotic ban on MMA, a prohibition that drives the sport underground and exists chiefly because of the efforts of one misguided moralist. Several prominent fighters, including light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and female MMA starlet have teamed up with Zuffa for the legal battle, which is being cast as a First Amendment issue and a fight over freedom of expression. A federal judge in Detroit dismissed a $2.5 million lawsuit against Allen Iverson today. The suit had been filed as a result of a bar fight two years ago that allegedly involved Iverson. The Detroit News obtained a transcript of Iverson's deposition, during which he was questioned by a lawyer who had won a $260,000 judgment against him a few years back. The lawyer, Gregory Lattimer, also told the newspaper he had reached a settlement with Iverson in an additional, unrelated case.
