Manny Ramirez Is Comin’ Back, Everyone

Manny Ramirez, the guy from all those cool Taiwanese home-run videos (he also once played major-league baseball), has signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers. He will report to Triple-A Round Rock. He is 41 years old; he made his big-league debut nearly 20 years ago; he hasn't appeared in a big-league game since 2011. (That year he went 1 for 17 in five games with the Rays before he was hit with a drug suspension and retired.) Why is he doing this? Well, why not, I guess. He gets a prorated share of $500k if he makes the big club.

If there was any reason for Manny not to head to Texas, it would be the organization's minor-league policy regarding long hair. (Remember this?) But even that is apparently no obstacle:

Hey, former Tigers "ace" Nate Robertson is down at Round Rock, too. We look forward to many awkward handshakes filmed in poor quality.
