It's actually pretty sad when you're also behind Mexico, Egypt, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Togo, Norway, Spain...

/ad nauseum'd

This is the 3rd time this news has come up today. I think our contributing writers have these things submitted WAY before they read our comments. Now I feel unappreciated...
@Clare: Very true. I was an athlete all through college, and now that I'm out, I'm much more sedentary, but I'm still in pretty good condition. If I hadn't worked out for 6 years and run around my entire life, there's no way I'd be nearly as healthy as I am.

Parents just need to institute a "shut up and go play outside!" time for their kids, like we had. ^_^

@UpstateUnderdog: Patron saint of both eyes and television? Someone in the Vatican is playing a cruel joke on you all.

@Clare: I guess I can see that. Olympians (gymnasts in SPECIAL particular) have always been the acme of the athletic ideal (sans EPO, of course). I'm just saying that if the age was raised and everyone played the same field, the sport wouldn't change hands that much. It would be a lot more about conditioning and training, and less about who's got the most natural talent or least body mass.

@Weed Against Speed: And here I was thinking it was the new Arcade Fire album name...
Lifelong fitness? Those Chinese girls will be lucky if they can still walk properly by the time they're 30. The human body is not meant to endure that sort of abuse before it's developed.
@shea_guevara: I always envision Buzz Bissinger as a Jabba-the-Hutt-like creature, sitting on a throne constructed out of broken sports ideals and blatant falsehoods, holding a scepter shaped like a baseball bat in one hand and a sub sandwich in the other, a river of bile and vitriol flowing forth from his grotesque mouth.

In short, he's the consummate troll.

@UpstateUnderdog: And he was one of the gifted ones?!

/God help us all

It's the summer Olympics. What did you expect from a country that has no summer?

/stereotype'd

@Dr.Venkman: Me too. Dammit, I need to get paid first, though. :(
@dont-forget-where-you-came-from-cheese mac: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis are Musketeers, yo.
I can't really get how the Olympics have events which already have a world championship equivalent. Baseball, tennis, soccer, etc. They certainly don't need the Olympics.
Wow, Rick. Throwing down the Alexandre Dumas references. How high class of you.

/What a dumas!

Oh, and extra innings rules are retarded.

10:30am - Former NBA journeyman, Vincent Askew, was released Thursday from Miami-Dade County Jail on $22,500 bond after being charged with three accounts of sexual battery of a 16 year old girl.

12:15pm - Former NBA player and Albany Patroons coach Vincent Askew arrested in Florida for having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Boy don't waste time, do he?

@Texy: As an athlete, I thank you for lumping all athletes together with the shameful minority. I hope you get hit with a broken maple bat.
@Kid Canada: Advertising, television deals and sponsors bring in a shitload more disposable income for a school than donations do. Most donations are limited to a specific purpose.
@Weed Against Speed: +1 Monty Python

@Jews For Purple Jesus: Despite all that food, he makes it all himself. He never eats out. Sorry ladies!

So... Michael Phelps will be headed to Sauget soon?

@FirstDerivative: Did triple jump, high jump and 110 hurdles in Jr. High, but that's it. I dislike running. :(
