The Red Sox should have the best defense in all of baseball - and that's in addition to the best starting rotation in all of the majors. Their bullpen is also due to be outstanding, especially if Bard and Tazawa make the leaps that they are expected to make.
Yes, their lineup is incredibly weak - especially in the 7-8-9 spots. Ridiculously so, in fact.
But in baseball, a run saved is worth the same as a run earned. Sure, Boston might post a ridiculous number of 3-2 losses... But for the most part, their strategy to keep runners off the basepaths and balls inside the stadium is an incredibly sound one.
