Agree 100% with everything you wrote in both those posts. The little stuff makes or breaks games as much as the big stuff sometimes. It at least means the difference between an actual 9 or a 7 or so on a typical scale, and I still can't get over how triple A games with a "7" are considered critical failures. And he was completely wrong on the Witcher games, and completely right about FF13.
On the subject of L4D and similar, I think he does play those games multiplayer with his mates, just has no interest in wading into the cesspool of XBL or PSN to play games with strangers. I'm pretty sure that's specifically what he means by his hatred of multiplayer.

To be fair though, and as someone who doesn't even own a PS3 and hasn't played a regular baseball game since World Series 98 on my Saturn, The Show is still really damn good. The point about them getting lazy and sitting on it instead of improving it is noted though. It's been happening to Madden for years.

99 out of 100 prefer fight sticks. Default 360 controller is bad even if you want pad, but a madcatz pad, or surprisingly one of those gamestop branded 360 controllers work much better. The newer 360 controlls that have the "disc" d-pad are pretty good too.

You pretty much answered your own question. Do you want to help old ladies across the street , or do you want to blow up busses? There's Mercenaries 2 as an example of a non-criminal sandbox game, and at the risk of falling into a philosophical debate, there's also The Saboteur.
Agree so much with this. Even noted not all DLC is bad, I hold Harmonix/RB model of DLC as the correct way to do it. But the fact that I have to buy Retro Spencer/Sentinel/Strider costumes instead of unlock them pisses me off. Then I get more pissed because I have to buy a "pack" that includes costumes I don't want to get the ones I do. Then I get even more pissed off because without using a credit or debit card, I have to spend a minimum of 20 bucks to get ANY DLC at all.
Well, there are sandbox games that you don't have to be a criminal in. Thing is though, it's generally more fun. Part of the fun of the games is causing havoc and destruction, and that sort of goes along with going against "the law."
Mods don't generally overwrite anything. I haven't messed with Skyrim too much yet but the toher TES games had a mod manager utility (3rd party designed, of course) that let you seamlessly manage mods, enabling or disabling them at will pre launch. They can mess with your save games but if you don't use the mods for a certain save game, it will always be unaffected.
Be prepared for a lot of heartbreak. Still, they've got arguably the best unis in the league and one of the deepest histories, even though the new version of the team is barely over a decade old.

I have plenty of nostalgia for the original TMNT, as that was MY GAME when it first hit arcades, and for many many months after. But even I can look past the nostalgia to realize that it probably doesn't even fall in what I feel are the top 5 of the genre: In no particular order:
Streets of Rage 2
The Punisher
River City Ransom
X-Men
D&D Tower of Doom/Shadow over Mystara
I still love the original TMNT (and I didn't like Turtles in Time as much, either.) Nostalgia can still only go so far. Or maybe I just have nostalgia for all the games on this list. There have been a couple othrs made recently I am quite fond of in Scott Pilgrim and Unbound Saga as well.
I'm going to assume the role of "that guy" too and call this game seriously overrated.
1. It's not as good as TMNT, which is already available.
2. It's not as good as X-men, which is already available.
3. It's nowhere near as good as Streets of Rage 2, which is already available AND half the price.
4. It's nowhere near the very pinnacle of the genre, Capcom's The Punisher, which is not available but needs to be.
(Though to edit my original post, can't beat the price for PSN+ subscribers.)
I'm very sad by this. I enjoyed this as almost as much as Guild Wars, the only other MMO I ever played for more than a couple weeks.
