@dont-forget-where-you-came-from-cheese mac: I'm in the clerking thing permanently, and I'm sure I'll still be lurking around Deadspin in two years. You have an interest in Ohio in a couple years, send me a message. We rotate other clerks pretty regularly.
@dont-forget-where-you-came-from-cheese mac: Ooh, my bad, I didn't remember the NY thing for you. It would require a move to Ohio. (But hey, our winters are just as shitty as yours)
@dont-forget-where-you-came-from-cheese mac: What if a fellow DS commenter knew of a federal clerkship opening? Government life is so much more tolerable than private practice.
@ClintonPortishead: Front row, 40 yard line to watch that shit fest. McAfee even asked us for hand lotion before he went out and contributed ina mighty, mighty way.
@youthinkyouknow: And the NCAA still could be in the near future. And I think in all likelihood, competitive cheer will apply with the NCAA for recognition within the next 2-3 years and be approved. They just haven't gotten there yet.
The fact that cheerleading not being a sport has been the focus of this decision is sad when you think about the fact that the University was manipulating its books to give women fewer chances at any sports. That's where the outrage should be generated.
@youthinkyouknow: Competitive cheer does not, despite your unsupported conclusions. The primary governing body, NCA, is run by Varsity Brands and admits that its scoring includes a portion designed solely to advertise the brand. Further, competitive cheer is not recognized as even an emerging sport by the NCAA. As for a season, until Q helped formed an intercollegiate association in 2009, there was no defined season. The 132 day season proposed by that association would have gone into effect at the end of '09 and has never been nationally recognized. Despite helping form the organization, Q's team routinely ignored its rules and used alternative scoring systems. In short, the University championing this cause and attempting to meet the Title IX definition, didn't even follow its own proposed standards.
@youthinkyouknow: In fairness to this Judge -- he's determining whether it is a sport specifically under Title IX. Those requirements have nothing to do with athleticism or skill. Instead, they focus on whether the sport has particular seasons or a governing body. At the college level, those things are not well formed for cheerleading. Thus, not a sport for purposes of Title IX
They were told on multiple occasions that, no, it's not a good idea. It's not going to be approved. They just kind of put the horse-blinders on and ran with it.
It Appears 90% Of The Female Population Has Slept With Tiger Woods
That has to be an error. Well more than 10% of the female population is African American.
I am here to roundly criticize the reporting on this issue. The media has really blown this out of proportion and made Hundley a larger-than-life figure. Homewrecking is a weighty issue, and Hundley's claim cannot be taken lightly.
Cease and desist immediately.

Larger question - why the semi-naked picture for the "back" view of the group shirt? You stay classy, American Apparel. #americanapparelforsesamestreet
In fairness, it was 47 decibels in the neighbor's apartment -- at that point her moanin and pantin had gone through at least one wall if not more. #loudsex
Rumor has that Kuselias was more subtle when he picked up Bell.
Bell: Quit screwing with my injury reports. Your now listed as "Questionable (pulled groin)."
Kuselias: Yeah, that's accurate.
Bell: When the hell did that happen?
Kuselias: I'm hoping in about 30 seconds... #erikkuselias
So, 2 nominees and they've both used the term spearchuckers -- I sense a theme...albeit Sir Charles had the decency to use his slur during the Olympics
