I'm totally stunned by the amount of vitriol on this board, for a grip of reasons, the foremost having already been pointed out a bunch of times but bears repeating: The level of inanity of anonymous commenters going after an anonymous column is off the charts. Also, what's unethical about a therapist sharing their experiences with their patients if their identities aren't disclosed? Therapists talk about patients to their therapists all the time. Finally, cheap moralizing and judgement-mongering by Gawker writers has never been a good look, if anything because it's one of the few things besides a paycheck that—pardon the easy metaphor—differentiates them from the asylum's inmates, as very, very well demonstrated herein. Finally, the therapists scandalized by this are just naive about their chosen profession's accessibility problems, which this—if anything—helps with. Any therapist who doesn't want their profession de-mystified probably also doesn't have much invested in their patients' success so much as the preservation of their sense of righteousness.
Danny, you are the stripe of overly-earnest commenter whose literal-interpretative style is exactly the kind bloggers enjoy smashing into banned commenter oblivion in the manner of a black belt delivering a roundhouse kick to a bouncy red ball. Stop.

VANYA! You live. Be nice to whatever poor sucker they get to sign up for this gig. Until they burn their first commenter. Then read them the riot act and burn their village to the ground after eating their children. Tradition!
Damn. Y'all mothafuckas is still here. Had a moment this weekend of "miss the old commenters" and thought I'd say hi. Stay crazy, you shiny diamonds! #crosstalk
There's something vaguely and perhaps even mistily bar mitzvah-y about all of this. In all sincerity: A hell of a run, and you survived it without being shitcanned or going insane. Well done, mazel tov, on to the next one. Mattchew034evr.
Ward was a really kind, great editor to me while I was there. Incredibly sad news; a mensch and a punchy, scrappy news editor with a very good heart. Here's to him.
