Hoax. Dan Patrick likes to spread 2 rumors that aren't true about ESPN as a gag. One, the Clayton has a ponytail, and two, that Rachel Nichols has tattoo sleeves on her arms. It all sounded believable until the ponytail comment.
Maybe do a little research on the ACC. Duke lost to Richmond Virginia lost to William & Mary for christ sakes North Carolina barely beat UConn Wake Forest struggled against Stanford.
No mention of the House of Pain reunion? Jump Around! Going to be a busy summer for DJ Lethal.
I have always seen ticket companies threaten to cancel scalper orders. If they did so, and the scalper sued in court, would they have a legal leg to stand on?

If you buy a ticket from them and they take your money, don't you own the merchandise at that point and you can do with it as you please, subject to laws of the state? Even then if you break the laws of the state, that isn't their judgment call, is it?

I applaud the desire to get tickets in the hands of fans, I just wonder the legality of it.

I can't go local. Not with Metallica letting fans sample 6 songs off the new record.

If I had to go local, I can't get enough of the new CD "Sharkbolt" by Envelope. Especially 'I Got My Motivations.'

Someone ask RZA what he thinks about Joe Biden being pro-RIAA.

The collaboration is as bad as feared. Check the 3 songs on his Myspace page.

I'll give him one thing, the guy has balls.

Here is his website. [johntv.com]

Crazy videos. He busts a lot of people. I am surprised he hasn't gotten a beat down.

What a waste of resources. Legalize it!

Thanks for your efforts. Good luck at the new gig, keeping the citizenry informed.
@TheGreenMnM: How dare you ask that question, citizen. You are looking at it the wrong way. They aren't voting but they are "working." You know, campaigning, giving oral to lobbyists, funneling jobs to campaign supporters. The usual.
@savvy999: I agree, whenever someone lumps McCain and Obama together as equally sucky, that gets my goose.

Obama is 10 times suckier than McCain. At least McCain has experience. You can list example of McCain looking out for consumers and working with Democrats on issues. Obama's job for the last 10 or so years was running for his next office. The messiah. He has no experience so have faith!!!! Just have faith! Just like you do with jesus! Have faith Obama the messiah will fix it!

McCain is a horrible candidate but at least he has experience being bipartisan. Obama is a dreadful candidate.
Sadly, no good choice this election. Even the libertarian isn't a libertarian.

@gqcarrick: No, Wal-Mart didn't go from "Made in America" to "Made where ever we can get it the cheapest to maximize profit". The U.S. gov't went from "god bless these companies who hire and employ our workers and pay them a fair wage" to "let's regulate and tax the crap out of companies and make them less competitive" and have unions get them $80,000 a year for unskilled labor." Thanks for coming automakers and steel companies.

@Maura Johnston: Don't we all work with shit in one way or the other?

I understand, and I am not a fan of all Serrano's stuff but I thought the Load cover was cool.

When I compare Metallica's covers to the over the top literal titles that a metal band could come up with, the Death Magnetic one could be much worse.

Their first album cover for the demo "Metal Up Your Ass" had a knife/dagger coming out of a toilet. So it is all about context!

I kind of like it. It is a little too literal in many ways, but could be worse.

The Load album cover I really like too. "The cover of the Load album is original artwork entitled "Semen and Blood III." It is one of three photographic studies by Andres Serrano created in 1990 by mingling the artist's own semen and bovine blood between two sheets of Plexiglas."

In a recent interview Dulli (and Lanegan) both said they get tons of money thrown at each of them to reunite the Afghan Whigs and Screaming Trees respectively, and both said they have no desire to do so.....
Thanks for the memories Maura!

Great song, but nothing will top the CD "Gentlemen" for me. The song My Curse with Marcy Mays' (The Scrawl) haunting vocals is amazing.

Too bad these guys broke up before their time considering Greg's acting career never really took off. The last record 1965 had promise but ended up not being too great.

How great it would be to re-live some of the Afghan Whigs/Howlin' Maggie tours from the 90s...

Filesharing is a mixed bag, but I know a lot of people who buy a lot more music (albeit digitally, and for a lower per track price) than they used to precisely because they can "sample" a lot of music for free. I'm one of those people.

That's not really the point I'm trying to make though.

I agree with you that filesharing is a good thing, and I am all for digital downloads. But to imply people are buying more music because of it is horseshit.

Yes it is a good thing that people can buy 2 songs via iTunes instead of getting stuck with a shitty CD with 2 good songs and 6 band songs at a record store.

The record industry bigwigs are getting their comeuppance.

But don't imply people are buying more music. People are stealing more music. On almost any message board you can find people that buy a CD, rip it to mp3, and upload it to Rapidshare or Megaupload and give it away.

And don't think that this isn't related to the increase in ticket prices.

And Gene Simmons can go fuck himself with a bottle of cold cream. He's the living, breathing, sweating embodiment of what's wrong with the record industry.

Nice job showing you have no clue about the workings of the recording industry, or Gene Simmons for that matter.

Why all the hatred? Are you the one woman on the planet he refused to sleep with?

Perhaps I am missing something.

Is he selling the guitar straps? My guess is no.

Presumably the guitar strap was made by cutting up some piece of purchased Louis Vitton items to make the guitar strap?

If so, then it would seem to me doesn't he have every right to use the guitar strap?

For example, I have seen women take purchased large adult men's t-shirts, alter and sew them together, and wear them as sun dresses.

@mhale0: I love Kiss and I love Radiohead but if it came down to it, I would bet $$ Kiss could get more asses in a stadium than Radiohead could.

and Gene has a point. The record industry is dead. Not necessarily a bad thing, but stealing a company's goods is going to cause the company financial issues.

@HONEYBFLY: Ending a post with "'nuff said" shows you both didn't prove your point and are a jackass.

Tenno, I get what you are saying somewhat. I know it is trendy to bash Metallica, but I challenge someone to find a more fan friendly band than Metallica.

1) They allowed taping at their shows at one point (don't know about now.)

2) They do a meet and greet for members of their fan club before every show, even festivals.

3) They release live downloads of all of their most recent tours so fans can buy a recording of the concert they attended at LiveMetallica.com

4) At LiveMetallica.com you can also download soundboards of past Metallica archived shows for free.

5) They play intimate concerts for their fan club members only. In 2004 they played 3 shows at the tiny Fillmore in San Francisco, strictly for fan club members.

and on and on. Metallica is very friendly and supportive of their fan base.

Also Dan Gibson, if you are still reading these comments, the artwork is changing.....

On the MissionMetallica website they also said they would be doing something special in Nashville today, for a few hours, pre-Bonnaroo, and invited fans to enter a contest to attend. Pre-Bonnaroo listening party? Concert?
