"I can't for the life of me find it now, but I recall reading an interview with Sidibe where she said that she's been portrayed in a number of articles as someone who was, in fact, Precious-like in that she was shy and ignored and downtrodden due to her physical appearance until she got her break -- her response to all this was something like, "No, I've always been awesome, it's just that now I'm famous too." That's the thing that makes her so wonderful and yet, to so many people, difficult to understand outside the role of Precious."
