"Considering how soon this was announced right after the game was released, I do wonder why Epic Games couldn't wait a tad longer to tease out RAAM's Shadow."
The game was delayed for 5-6 months because MS wanted it to be released in September. It was finished well before it was released, so EPIC started working on the DLC right away. I suppose they could have added the DLC to the disc (well, they did, but you know what I mean), but the game itself is so much value at full price that I really don't mind paying extra for the DLC.
It reminded me of one of them touchdowns that guy scored last year, where the guy who can throw the ball threw it from far away, and the other guy caught it.
I've seen it several times, and while I don't think it was a goal, it was definitely quite a close call. I was listening to TalkSport on the way back from the airport tonight and callers were split on whether it was a goal or not.
This is Lampard's 'goal'. Very controversial, as the referee said no goal, but the linesman said goal. The ref chose to accept the linesman's advice. Borderline decision for sure.
OK, last post! Sorry for so many, it's just that I feel excited for you! I remember the excitement I had when I was flying back to Ireland for a visit.
So, to get you in the mood (well, it always worked for me anyway), a few pieces of fine literature:
I think it's pretty cool that the mountains you see on the opposite side of the water are in the Republic of Ireland (a different country, technically). The body of water serves as a dividing line, as you can see here:
Incidentally, with regards to hooligans, don't worry. I've been to games with 80,000 people at them (incredible when you consider the population of the entire island of Ireland is between 5.5-6 million) and have never seen any trouble. The fans are very, very good natured, even after 12-14 pints. It's usually a bit of light hearted banter, "yous were the better team on the day" and that kind of thing.
I'm from Ireland. I recommend a drive along the north-east coast, all the way to the Giant's Causeway. Head up the M1 motorway from Dublin to Belfast, but take the signs for Newry. From there, Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, Newcastle and so on:
While you are in Antrim, the Bushmills distillery is there if you are interested. Personally I can't stand whiskey, but I know a lot of folks on here love it. After the Giant's Causeway, you could go to anywhere in Donegal. It's more old-school Ireland than Dublin and the likes. I've heard that Buncrana is very nice. From there, Galway for a night (great nightlife), then maybe the Cliffs of Moher for some touristy-stuff.
Seems like a lot in a week, but Ireland isn't a big country.
General tips:
Bring plenty of money. Dublin is known as one of the most expensive cities in Europe for a reason. Trust me, you are spoiled in the US (I lived in Pittsburgh for 3 years, so I can compare).
Get ready to shit yourself when you see petrol prices. If you venture into the North, expect to pay £1.35-£1.40 per litre (not gallon, LITRE). It's a little cheaper in the ROI, so fill up before you cross the border.
On a related note, get both £ and €. I know from your posts here that you are an intelligent guy, but just want to make sure you know there are different currencies North and South of the border.
I'm sure you've already planned to, but if not, drink a Guinness in Dublin. It's night and day from what is served elsewhere. The stuff in the US, and even mainland UK, is undrinkable compared to what is served in Ireland. Wait til you see how white the head is compared to the yellow in the US, and how it stays all the way to the final sip. You'll be able to count how many drinks it took to finish by the head-marks that remain on the side of the glass!
Try Smithwicks (pronounced Smith-icks - silent W). It's not strong, but I love it. Sort of like a Yuengling Black & Tan, if you've ever had one.
I hope you have a great time. I think you'll find the people to be the friendliest you've ever met. I'm very proud of my country. I'd love to hear how you got on, please post when you are back.
