Giambi as Bebop is brilliance, but I can't get on board with Lugo. How about Jonny Gomes?
@mienna: Look, I get the similarity. Big Texans with big fastballs who aren't afraid to run it up under a chin once in a while. The Clemens comparisons are easy. In some respects (as pitchers), they're legitimate. In others, they're really lazy.

Beckett has repeatedly come up huge in big games, his Sox teammates repeatedly vouch for him, he's got a strong charitable presence in the Boston region... basically, there's very little reason for Sox fans to dislike the guy. If they want to irresponsibly take the Clemens comparisons and extrapolate them, that's their own problem.

Now, if you were an Indians fan or Yankees fan, I can totally see why you'd hate the guy.

I started this comment thread with complete disbelief that:
A) someone thinks that pitch would have hit Abreu in any universe
B) There are Red Sox fans who don't love Josh Beckett for the ass kicker that he is
C) People still think the 'Sox fans are dicks' angle is fresh

But I've forgotten about all of it because of the awesomeness of the Ninja Turtle tangent. You all win.

I'm skeptical... All the signs point to King cycling off of the juice.

The juice, of course, being gravy
