1. Crazy Eights. The Rams jumped out to one of their best starts in team history this season, starting 19-3 and reaching the 20-win plateau faster than any team in school history. Their other best years? 1977-78, 1987-88, and 1997-98. URI reached the big dance in each of those seasons, having the most success in the 97-98 season when they reached, you guessed it, the Elite 8. That year URI, an 8 seed, topped No. 1 overall seeded Kansas and Cinderella-story Valparaiso before falling to Stanford in the regional finals. University of Rhode Island mascot Rhody Ram learned that over the weekend, when he was assaulted outside of a restroom at a college basketball game. You may recall another, older, incident involving Rhody from the video above, in which the mascot taunted, and then rumbled with the very aggravated St. John's Hawk.
