If he goes on one of his hot streaks, Barry Bonds could end up tying or breaking Babe Ruth's home run total by the end of this weekend in Philadelphia. We have extra interest in this now after reading <A href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060797525/sr=8-1/qid=1146840527/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-0699912-8888864?%5Fencoding=UTF8"><EM>Love Me, Hate Me</eM></a>, an excellent biography of Bonds written by Jeff Pearlman, author of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060507330/sr=8-3/qid=1146840806/ref=pd_bbs_3/002-0699912-8888864?%5Fencoding=UTF8"><EM>The Bad Guys Won!</eM></A> and the infamous John Rocker story in <EM>Sports Illustrated</eM>. <a href="http://deadspin.com/171871/authors-with-pure-hearts-jeff-pearlman" title="Click here to read more about Authors With Pure Hearts: Jeff Pearlman">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

When we were on <a href="http://www.deadspin.com/sports/deadspin/so-did-we-miss-anything-156752.php">our Caribbean vacation a while back</a>, we spent most of our time on a beach, sipping blue beverages and ... reading about fantasy baseball. Naturally. Specifically, we were reading Sam Walker's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0670034282/002-1538671-6813640?v=glance&n=283155"><EM>Fantasyland</eM></A>, a relentlessly entertaining look at a fantasy baseball virgin attempting to win the most difficult fantasy league on earth: <a href="http://www.toutwars.com/">Tout Wars</A>, consisting of only fantasy experts like <a href="http://www.baseballhq.com/">Ron Shandler</A> and <a href="http://www.creativesports.com/">Lawr Michaels</a>. <a href="http://deadspin.com/158903/authors-with-pure-hearts-sam-walker" title="Click here to read more about Authors With Pure Hearts: Sam Walker">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

We've taken some time off from the <a href="http://www.deadspin.com/sports/sports-authors-with-pure-hearts/index.php">Authors With Pure Hearts series</a>, but we gleefully return with Will Blythe's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/006074023X/sr=8-1/qid=1141348771/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1538671-6813640?%5Fencoding=UTF8"><EM>To Hate Like This Is To Be Happy Forever</a></eM>, a hysterical, slightly crazed book about what it means to hate so much that it becomes purifying. In the case of Blythe, born and bred in North Carolina, the target of that hate is one we can all understand: <EM>Duke</EM>. <a href="http://deadspin.com/158123/authors-with-pure-hearts-will-blythe" title="Click here to read more about Authors With Pure Hearts: Will Blythe">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Continuing our Sports Authors With Pure Hearts series, we present, honestly, one of our favorite sports books of all time: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060094710/002-7871130-2928860?v=glance&n=283155&n=507846&s=books&v=glance"><EM>Sunday Money</EM></a>, a whirlwind, Kerouac-esque look at a year on the NASCAR circuit. <EM>Sports Ilustrated</eM>, <EM>New York Times</eM> and <EM>New Yorker</EM> author <a href="http://www.jeffmacgregor.com/biography.html">Jeff MacGregor</A>, along with his photographer wife, packed in a mobile home and followed NASCAR for a whole year, documenting fans, drivers, the road and the whole culture of a sport that half of us don't understand and the other half worships with frightening passion. But mostly, it's just an amazing book about this weird, scary, beautiful America. <a href="http://deadspin.com/138898/authors-with-pure-hearts-jeff-macgregor" title="Click here to read more about Authors With Pure Hearts: Jeff MacGregor">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

It has been brought to our attention that, as much as people might like our <a href="http://deadspin.com/sports/hometown-columnists/index.php">Why Your Hometown Columnist Sucks</A> feature, sometimes it's nice to point out <EM>good</EM> sportswriting. We agree; we're very friendly people and love great sportswriting as much, if not more, than anyone. Henceforth, we introduce our Sports Authors With Pure Hearts segment, which will feature interviews with sportswriters who have written books that we think are worthy of the all-powerful Deadspin stamp. Think of us like the Oprah of the sportswriting world, only with larger breasts. (If you'd like to nominate a book for this feature, just <a href="mailto:tips@deadspin.com">let us know</A>. <a href="http://deadspin.com/137751/authors-with-pure-hearts-jere-longman" title="Click here to read more about Authors With Pure Hearts: Jere Longman">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>
