We're hardly big boosters of team public relations people in general, but we will say that we have enjoyed the promotional spots produced by the Seattle Mariners to re-energize fans on the flagging team. Highlights include various people doing Ichiro's bat-point thing out in their every day life, players hailing cabs and ordering drive-through into their gloves like they're talking on the mound, and, our favorite, this look back on the career of Jamie Moyer. He's older than you think, apparently.

The M's don't do a whole lot well on the field anymore, but they totally lead the league in commercials.
Although you have to admit that the commercials for the new Mets network (SNY), featuring the guy with a TV for a head, are pretty good too. Two examples, but there are several in the series: - Asian masseuse gives the guy a chest massage because she wants to watch Mets highlights on his face, the TV, while he complains. - Cab driver locks him into the cab so drive can watch the game in the rear-view mirror
Big Richie... heh heh...
HAHAHAHA! My favorite is still Spreewell selling digital cable, "It's mad crazy fast" But this one's very good too.
Ah, the Ancient Mariner. He's still got a few good games left in him, although I'd rather have the worm-eaten corpse of Mordecai Brown as the M's closer than Eddie Guardado.
The Oakland A's always have great ad campaigns, too. The ones from 2002 were especially funny, as I recall. And last year's, too. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/oak/fan_forum/...
Re: M's closer. let's bring back Bobby Ayala.
NOT FUNNY, Mark. My hair just went white and fell out thinking about that awful man.
Ayala, Healthcliff Slocumb, Bad Norm Charlton, the Legendary Mike Schooler... those were fun days. I do have to mention the best Mariner commercial ever -and if someone could find this online, I'd be eternally grateful- was the Joey Cora finger puppet. It was Joey (he of the .277-.348-.369 lifetime line) watching a puppet of Roger Clemens panic over facing him. It was the funniest baseball-related thing I've ever seen.
