We really want to like Curt Schilling, we really do. We admire his site and can't deny his ability to raise his game at the most important of moments. But man: Sometimes we really wish he'd just be quiet.
It's not even so much that we disagree with him; it's just that he's so sanctimonious about everything. And it's pretty funny how he always talks all tough to the media and then gets before Congress and is all, "Steroids? Wha? OK, maybe baseball has steroids. Maybe. Not sure. Could be!"
Anyway, he's hammering Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire again.
"If someone wrote that stuff [Game Of Shadows] about me and I didn't sue, am I not admitting that there's some legitimacy to it?" Schilling said on the "Costas Now" program. "It goes to the Mark McGwire thing in Congress. I mean, I'm a huge Mark McGwire fan. But I just always thought it was very simple: If you did something and someone asks you if you did it and you didn't do it, you say no. Any other answer than no is some form of yes, isn't it?"
You just have to admire how much tougher Schilling is on steroids when, you know, he's not under oath or, you know, sitting right next to one of the guys he's talking about. By the way, when Bonds was asked about Schilling's comments to Bob Costas, he said, "You mean that little midget man who absolutely knows jack ... about baseball, who never played the game before? You can tell Bob Costas what I called him." For the record, "midget" is considered an offensive term to describe little people. It is not, however, considered an offensive term to describe Bob Costas.

At least he's saying something, as opposed to 99.9 percent of baseball players who say nothing, collect their paycheck, and don't give a shit. Schilling's methods may be lame and sanctimonious, but at least he's not going to stand by while something insults the United States of America! Let's go!
Good God I do not, not, NOT want Barry Bonds passing Aaron. It wouldn't be so much proof that God doesn't exist, rather than Satan DOES.

Every time a player is asked about Bonds we get the 'we don't really know if he did or not' quote. As if the book "Game of Shadows" doesn't exist. There are MANY times I'd wish Schilling would shut it, this isn't one of those times. He's, thus far, the only active player with the balls to call out 'the great' Barry Bonds. Good for him.
They shouldn't have stopped the suturing at his ankle.

But the fact of the matter is, these guys cheated and ruined baseball - expecially if your a ball player. Think of someone like Shilling - your getting up there in age. You never once touched the stuff, and your on the fence for the Hall - And these guys are probably going to get in. That has to hurt, and frankly, I'm shocked others haven't said more stuff like Shill.

@Charlie Kerfelds Jetsons Tee: Its not a valid argument. There was a rule against steroid use. The players' association would not allow drug testing. Was Selig suppose to institute a lock-out to get drug testing in the collective bargaining agreement. He did not have the support to force the PA to accept the term otherwise.
What would you have had Selig do? I am really sick of people blaming him.
