Howard Eskin, a sports radio host in Philadelphia, is raising money in order to pay the fine for any Philadelphia Eagle who "takes out" Terrell Owens. The guy who sent in the tip didn't give a definition for "take out," but given the nature of the Philadelphia sports fan, I have to assume that a stretcher has to be involved. And according to the tipster, thousands of dollars have already been raised.
I'm not sure how to feel about this. On one hand, not a lot of my energy goes into sympathy for Terrell Owens. But you know, I don't want to see the man actually injured. I just can't get behind someone finding a roundabout way to kinda put a price on someone's head. Even if that someone is Terrell Owens. Bill Romanowski, maybe. But not Owens.
The ideal thing would be for the guy to raise a lot of money, have no injury come about, and then give the money to charity. That way, the sports radio guy can get the attention he was looking for to begin with, someone who really needs the money can benefit, and the only people who lose out are the bloodthirsty Eagles fans who just want to see Terrell Owens in a neckbrace.

Eskin is the definition of "no class".
You know, I've always thought the T.O.-hate was a bit overboard even before this Philly fatwa. I understand there are plenty of reasons to dislike him - he's immature, arrogant, greedy, whatever. But the level of vitriol he receives doesn't fit his crime. At the end of the day, he's just a guy who was looking after his own interest, just like everyone else in the league (and the next person who says "honor your contract" needs a smacking) - he just happened to be very tactless about it and chose a path that killed his team's season. Ridicule him for his stupidity and mock his arrogance all you want. But let's not treat him on the same level as Romo, someone who actually is a scumbag.
T.O. should be less worried about being taken out on the field and more concerned about being ripped apart when he steps into Pennsylvania. Philly is hungry for a championship and T.O. set the Eagles back during a critical season. Not to mention his behavior doesn't sit well in a union town. He'd be wise to stay in Cherry Hill until game time.
I don't know when the finalized schedule is out for 2006, but when Dallas comes to town I am going to do everything in my power to be there. As my buddy Dave said on Saturday, 'Start buying stock in Duracell'
Eskin is pretty much a tool
