The guy who co-wrote The Comebacks gives a pretty good explanation of what the writers' strike is all about, including a very observant opening paragraph. [Boston Globe]

I'd hate to live in a world where quality entertainment like The Comabcks was written by Scabs. I need quality Union-approved football it the crotch jokes.
The Comebacks had a script?
It takes a lot of effort to figure out that the Horribly Telegraphed Nancy Kerrigan Knee-Whacking gag should come before the Horribly Cliched Texas High School Quarterback Doesn't Want His Father's Life gag, not after. He deserves every 1/2 penny he gets for that.
When I clicked on the link to BostonGlobe.com it asked me if I wanted to join David Duke's mailing list. Cause, you know, Boston is racist. Get it?
Every time some segment of the entertainment industry (this includes sports) goes on strike I always hope that industry just dies and goes away, never to recover from the strike.
Comebacks? Was that the one with Keanu as the QB? Cause that movie sucked!!
@rombuu: Union-approved jokes are constructed more safely, and last longer, than jokes assembled on the cheap by illegal job-stealing Mexicans.
Gimme ya fingernails!
/Les Moonves (as quoted in the article)
@The Legend of Vincent Tremblay: Shit. That's why my manuscript didn't take.
@The Fan's Attic: What happens when Steven Gerrard leads an EPL strike until there is a quota on foreign players?
Also, quota systems are the worst thing ever. Just ask Kevin Peterson.
Anti-union sentiment? That's a paddlin'.
@The Legend of Vincent Tremblay: That choice would come from the direct and the editor later on.
(But I come to Deadspin to escape the strike news.)
@Phony Gwynn: BTW - Still fuck you. I had nightmares about the tree guy last night.
The fuck is the Comebacks?
@TheStarterWife: Dammit TSW, I said in my original post that it creeped me out. And I'm a big, strong, heterosexual male. That should've tipped you off.
I guess that dude's not having the Best Week Ever.
@TheStarterWife: See? If the director hadn't have switched those scenes, the movie wouldn't have sucked so hard. (see also: Joss Whedon's last minute touch-up of the first X-Men screenplay.)
@chilltown: fuck 'em all.
