Bad news for Arsenal fans ... in fact, bad news for all Premiership fans. Thierry Henry is taking his nifty feet and moving to Barcelona. With the move, Arsenal now seems like just another team while Barcelona inspires thoughts of, "Holy Christ, look at that line-up."
Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Deco, Samuel Eto'o ... and Thierry Henry. I know who I'm playing with on FIFA 2008. It's not just that they're all good, but they all play so ... pretty. For the sake of my own television viewing ability, is there any way we can get them into the Premiership?
In other soccer action this weekend, the United States men's national team takes on Mexico tomorrow. On the line are the 2007 Gold Cup, an invitation to the 2009 Confederations Cup, and, I believe, Texas. It's an intense rivalry, the US vs. Mexico ... we sort of don't like them, and they hate us like we raped their sister.
For a seriously in-depth preview, visit That's On Point. They like our chances.

Goodbye Thierry, now let's move on. [Arseblog]

I thought that it was the Spaniards that raped their sisters.
@twoeightnine: Obviously you've never seen an episode of Maury.
Is there a way to watch tomorrow online that anyone knows of?
And TOP is a fantabulous website.
I am SERIOUSLY going to watch a bunch of Barcelona's games.
Holy living fuck.
Henry loves Horses, it seems.
Here are my pics.
AND Luis Sojo.
With this news, and once Arsene leaves Arsenal (soon), David Hirshey will kill himself.
As a Chelsea fan I'm happy Arsenal will be worse next season, but it's not like they worried Chelsea even with Henry. It's always a shame to lose such a fun player to watch, though.
@Spectacular Sam: Give this a shot, or try here.
Are people really surprised by this transfer? After the season they had, and the way he spent most of it pouting, I'm kind of surprised it took as long as it did.
@metschick: nice.
@YNBA: Much obliged. I'll give it a shot.
@Spectacular Sam: thanks.
I just looked through PeterCavan's set, and damn - PC, you got a loooot of pics! Good stuff.
@metschick: your shirt just rocks my face off. And I don't know why, but the only person that looks totally completely different than what I imagined is robby i.
ugh, nibbles, are you pissed we didn't invite you?
@RashaanEnis: I was almost not going to wear it, but fuck it.
I got some "hey, metschick" yesterday in queens, as I looked for a drug store before pre-gaming, and after I left the bar, after the game.
Oh, and go to mets.com/fanphotos, Friday June 22nd vs. A's, Gallery 52. Or, just go here.
The first pic is a Deadspin one.
Wow, the Commentern looks nothing like I would have expected.
Can we officially ask next Weekend Daddy to continue to post soccer news? It makes me feel very cosmopolitian.
@TheStarterWife: yeah, it's not weekends here without soccer posts.
I now have yet another soccer team to try and follow.
@metschick: Great pics Metsy.
Gutted.
I wish Henry all the best, he's a legend at Arsenal. Time for the kids to step up. I have already changed the avatar... it just didn't feel right.
crap.
Good photos PC and Metschick!
So Michael Chiklis is a Deadspinner? Who knew?
On the line are the 2007 Gold Cup, an invitation to the 2009 Confederations Cup, and, I believe, Texas.
If our president is thrown into the Texas package, throwing the game may be a bit tempting, for both sides. Can the US say that Cheney and his jagoffs are at stake and just not show up?
Only little bitches play FIFA; you must graduate to Winning XI.
Aww, Will looks more and more the cranky writer every time a camera steals his virtue.
@SuperFrankieLampard: Really? Didn't worry Chelsea? Funny because they drew both Prem matches.
Positive the last was without Henry. Think the first might have been as well. So they are already tying you without him.
@preciousroy: Is that why they finished miles behind Chelsea? It's not just head-to-head matches that count.
Will this give room to young theo W. or do we really need a new striker that is almost as old in henry - anelka
I hope AW goes after Babel and Huntelaar actually, if you are going to "blow it up and start young" you might as well add some incredible talent. Through in Sagna and let's see if anyone worked on their finishing in the off season.
The problem with attracting the highest end talent is that you just sold your biggest attraction.
If Wenger continues to bring in youth I could see him staying. I think Dein will be back in when Kroenke grabs his shares. Henry was not going to stay because all he lacks is the CL trophy and Arsenal are re-tooling. Kinda reminds me of when ManU got rid of Nistelrooy... I hope it yeilds the same result (although AFc is lacking the veterans that the Red Devils had).
