Holyfield's opponent last night, 41-year-old Lou Savarese, is described here as "durable." Normally a fine adjective, but when applied to a boxer, "durable" sort of means "gets punched in the head a lot." And that's what Evander Holyfield, 3 years older than Savarese, did to him last night.
Back when Holyfield was Savarese's age, boxing officials in New York revoked his license to fight because it looked like he wasn't very good at it anymore. But, four fights into his comeback, he's undefeated, and last night's win will probably earn him a title shot against one of the 29 world heavyweight champions out there.
So I congratulate Evander Holyfield on not being actually killed in the ring yet ... and I'm happy for him that this fact makes him one of boxing's top heavyweights.

Has boxing really come to this? How sad.

Mike Hargrove has resigned as Mariner Manager.
I wonder if Evander pines for the good old days when he was just losing earlobes instead of intermittent motor control.
@UkraineNotWeak:
And how do William and Harry feel about this? ;)
Evan Fields just keeps contributing to the carny show that is heavyweight boxing these days.
@UkraineNotWeak: ""passion has begun to fade" = "got too frisky with a ball girl." Either that or some kind of contract dispute.
@Slothrop:
About Hargrove, not too good. Apparently, Diana was a big Texas Ranger fan in her youth. Carried an Oddibe McDowell rookie card where ever she went.
@UkraineNotWeak:
And here I was thinking she was a fan of Julio Franco's, seeing as how he came up when her great-great-great Aunt Victoria was Queen.
Suss: Well, they sold out my alma mater earlier this year. I'm totally going to short some tech stock.
