So a rockin' sports Saturday morphed into a pretty lazy sports Sunday that was redeemed only recently by an excellent Spurs/Suns game that featured over 215 points and several gallons of Steve Nash's blood. The Spurs did hang on to take Game One.
In case you missed tonight's line-up in "To Watch Tonight," it's a nearly barren Sunday sports evening. Thank goodness for people who make YouTube videos about Mario getting strung out on mushrooms and mistreating his princess.

Lazy sports Sunday? You auditioning for ESPN mjd? The Sabres / Rangers game was one of the best of the year.
There's a video out there of me and my cousin rearranging our house to a Super Mario level. We taped question blocks to the wall.
Your guess is as good as mine as to why I'm sharing this.
289, you shit yourself when the Sabres couldn't score on that (basically) empty net, right? Just checkin.
@I Party With Smoot: I wanted to Kill Derek Roy then, but luckily we scored just a bit later.
Bring on the Sens!
OK, that was pretty well done as fan videos go.
I only get to see games on Sunday afternoons now, so I haven't really cared about hockey all that much this year. That, and the Blackhawks were kinda terrible again this year...
But it was nice to watch the Rangers get knocked out. I can never see that enough.
I went to school with all these jokers. Just proof that North Carolina's full of funny motherfuckers.
I highly recommend this video, as well.
If my friend wasn't almost engaged to Roy I'd kill him.
Hey everybody!!
Let's get small!!!!
I think this is actually Captain Caveman and his Princess at home.
Also, I love the swirly camera flashbacks to the Mario world. Hilarious.
@UkraineNotWeak: I'm gonna have to measure you.
Anyone else think that "Luigi" looked like a dirtier version of Matt Leinart?
@The New Math: 86=1: What do you mean "dirtier" our young friend?
@Yostal: yeah, that's unpossible.
@Yostal: Basically Leinart with a porn stache, I guess.
@The New Math: 86=1: Last time I saw that mook, he stole my warp whistle
@I Party With Smoot: Kinda terrible? I was under the impression that they played at a junior high level. Not that I would know, since their stupid ownership won't let me watch any of their games on TV.
@The New Math: 86=1: Sorry 86, I was going for the joke that Leinart couldn't get any dirtier. My bad.
@stuckintheivy: Just be glad you have the Bulls right now. I'm sitting on the Blackhawks, Knicks, Orioles and Falcons... I might as well adopt a shitty MLS team at this point.
(I was a sports fan before there were actual teams around these parts, if anyone was confused by my allegiances.)
@Nacho Friendly: It's quite clever, not bad at all.
@I Party With Smoot: Yeah you definitely should have mixed that up and gone with Bulls, Ravens, Braves, and Sabres/Rangers, since they're in the same state. Same places, different sports.
Ignoring the Barry factor (which, even though he's not in the starting lineup, will be difficult), ESPN is showing a matchup of two fucking awesome young pitchers. Cole Hamels, who has already established himself as a hard-throwing Playmate fucker and Tim Lincecum, who is making his ML debut.
That being said, I'll be watching Amazing Race and Sopranos.
I was a kid. I basically chose based on cities where I have family (Knicks/O's), flashiest players (Neon Deion) and sweetest looking goalie mask (Ed Belfour).
I think I'm gonna blow all these weak ass sporting events off and go watch Hot Fuzz.
@I Party With Smoot: I believe it has been deemed acceptable to defect to a new favorite hockey team with no penalty.
@I Party With Smoot: I have to agree on this point. If you're not leading the uprising against Dollar Bill, you should be more than justified in your defection.
Poll time. Which show has fallen further from it's peak. The Simpsons or SNL?
@AnalRapist: I'm just warning you right now, if there is a lot of SNL bashing, I am going to get real defensive real quick.
@AnalRapist: SNL by a landslide, though the Simpsons has indeed fallen quite far.
@Rob Iracane: How many Sopranos are left? I think it is 4 but I'm not sure. The rate at which things have been progressing I am worried I won't get all the answers before it is over.
@I Party With Smoot: Dollar Bill has ruined a perfectly good franchise. Used to be the hottest ticket in town.
@AnalRapist: SNL
@AnalRapist: I say The Simpsons, if only because it's peak was so high.
@AnalRapist: SNL.
@DisgruntledGoat: You're forgetting how high the peak of SNL was, not just as a comedy show but as a cultural icon.
@Yostal: Well, he could date Paris Hilton.
What?
Oh, he did?
Nevermind then.
@AnalRapist: SNL
@PeteJäyhawk: Though I understand where you're coming from and am not trying to be a dick.
@AnalRapist: SNL, just because I still occasionally laugh when I watch the Simpsons.
@Proverbial: Do you work on the show in some capacity?
if lincecum is still available. grab him. he is debuting tonight and won't be around tomorrow
@AnalRapist: When The Simpsons were at their peak (Seasons 4-9), it was the greatest show ever. It's unwatchable now and so is SNL, but the Simpsons peak was greater than any other show, SNL included.
@AnalRapist: SNL, because it has fallen further from any of its three peaks (The NRFPTP era, the Hartman-Carvey era, and the Ferrell era), but it also has the chance to rebound and still manages to make us laugh on occasion (Peyton Manning comes to mind).
The Simpsons is still required viewing for me, and while it doesn't have its fastball anymore, it still can eek out wins with control and the ability to change speeds.
or not.
SNL died forever when Hartman left. But it's gone from bad, to embarrassingly bad, to excommunicated from comedy altogether. Were Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell really so good that one could put together a (gasp) "Best of" for each one of them? Those guys COMBINED haven't made me laugh yet.
Yet any cast from 1995 or before, even in its worst hour, could make me laugh consistently...#### in a box and the Peyton Manning montage are the only remotely funny things that show has seen in at least 10 years.
I think I have to say SNL, just because I've developed such a bond with Homer, Ralph, and especially Moe. I think DeadOn should do an email chat about this.
@PeteJäyhawk: I guess I am, I think I looked at it at a little too personally. And The Simpsons still makes me laugh, although it's not appointment TV for me anymore. SNL at this point is just painful--how many shows can waste the comedic talents of Peyton fucking Manning?
@notthequarterback: Coincidentally, you could argue that The Simpsons started to go downhill when Hartman died.
@throwbot: Hmm, and NewsRadio...
Wow, Phil really was a comedic genius.
Who is this new Phillies player, "Wes Hamels"?
@Clare: Morgan is rubbing off way too much on Jon Miller.
Mm. Yeah. Stick your hand down your pants again, Cole.
Um, what? Where am I?
@lieutenant winslow: Spo-rts?
@The Great Barstoolio: Classy J, suddenly, the night doesn't seem as dark.
