OK, I've succumbed to the Draft. It's still nice weather outside but I don't have anything else to do out there. Time to make dinner, have a few drinks and watch this thing.
I love the logic that even Buck & McSucker defended, the Yankees have 3 "young guys" in the pen, but "you don't wanna bring them in here". Isn't Melancon like supposed to be the eventual replacement for Rivera? If you can't bring him into an April game against the Red Sox what exactly is the point of calling him up?
I know I use this logic often myself, say for instance I am going out on the town for the evening and I am out of cash, I hit the ATM. I take out 40 dollars, but only allow myself to spend $5 of it, the other $35 must not be spent under any circumstance. It will sit in my wallet until Monday morning when I can re-deposit it into my bank account.
@wonderlic---myballs: Think they just felt with this lineup and the new park, they could outscore people often enough. So far that's biting them in the ass a bit.
@Thundercracker: Holy shit, I stopped paying attention when I saw the Yanks up 6-0. What the fuck happened? I mean, I read the boxscore, but seriously, what the fuck happened?
@Ailanthus-altissima: If you're a Reds fan, why do you like the Cards too (not complaining, just wondering)?
@Craig Eshericks Mustache: I grew up in Kentucky and my first game ever was a Red's game. But then I lived in St. Louis for several years and couldn't help but get caught up (there are few things sweeter than a balmy summer evening in Busch stadium).
I know it's weird to like both teams, but I just happened to be in the right place geographically. To be slightly more consistent - I don't like the Cubs at all (though it seems a bit mean to dislike someone who is so down all the time).
@Ailanthus-altissima: Okay, now I understand. It's kind of why I like the Indians (lived in Cleveland for a couple of years). At least Reds-Cards isn't completely inconsistent, unless they're in a pennant race or playing each other.
But yes, we can agree to dislike the Cubs. And the Brewers, right?
@The Curse of Aaron Heilman: seriously, I wanted the Chiefs to pick up Hicks. Or Maclin. Or someone who's job is to catch the football from our new and expensive quarterback.
@Hank Scorpio-Steinbrenner: The only reasoning is to help share the load at RB, or fill in for when Addai gets hurt. But addressing that with a 1st round pick? Whuh?
I just came in for the Falcons pick. I generally get interested in these thing the most when the Falcons have a high pick(2009) or there are a lot of Auburn guys going. (2005)

Does the Yankees management feel they can ignore the bullpen year in and year out? You need someone to get to Mariano you clowns.

That's a winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Cards beat Cubs 8-2, Pujols hits grand slam and logs his 1,002nd RBI in the process. Sort of amusing #1000 was Ankiel.

I'm sure the guy will work out, but damn that defensive front is sad.

Personally I'm not sure I agree with trading out of the 1st round entirely, but I'm willing to wait for what they do.

Any word on what the Patriots-Ravens trade included other than swapping 1sts?
