The logo for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has been withdrawn after allegations it was plagiarized from a design for a Belgian theater.
Today, the IOC revealed the list of 26 sports that have officially applied to be part of the 2020 Summer Olympic games in Tokyo. They will be trimmed and a shortlist will be announced later this month, and any potential new sports will be formally recommended for inclusion on Sept. 30.
Yesterday we learned that London-based architect Zaha Hadid had rethought her design for Tokyo's Olympic Stadium, after widespread protests and a major budget cut put the original design in jeopardy. Dezeen has the new images of the redesigned stadium, and it's... pretty damn similar, despite a $1.3 billion budget cut.
Tomorrow at 4 p.m. EDT, the IOC will announce the host city for the 2020 Olympic Games. Though that seems like so far away and you will be old and incontinent by then, it seems worth handicapping the three candidates.
So how can wrestling save itself from extinction as an Olympic sport? Maybe it needs to start bribing the shit out of members of the International Olympic Committee, preferably with vacations and hookers.
