Use of the relative direction of "back" is incorrect. At least "going" implies that the ball is leaving the field of play.

I hope Berman takes a foul ball in the back back back back of his head.

Four thousand "backs" and thirty years ago our four-letters brought forth on this continent, a new station, conceived in athletic ability, and dedicated to the proposition that all fans are created capable of understanding rational baseball analysis.

Now we are engaged in a great civil discourse, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great baseball-field of that discourse. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their ear drums and patience that that rational fan might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The strong men who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored fallen rational fans we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these now-defeated shall not have been defeated in vain -- that this baseball nation, under God, shall have a new birth of cliche-free discourse -- and that rational baseball talk of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

If you think the word "back" comes up a lot during Berman's broadcasts, try reading Marv Albert's deposition.

So what's more annoying: "Back, back, back, back ..." or "Going, going, gone!" or "That ball is outta here!" You make the call ...

Repetition increases familiarity but has little effect on likability
Quite true, professor. I still remember Ajou Ajou Deng, even though I hated him.

in which he concludes that "repetition increases familiarity but has little effect on likeability"

The millions of dollars that I've spent on Toyota products since the 'Saved By Zero' campaign beg to differ.

I-Team wondered: How many times has Berman said the word "back" over the years?

    Way too fucking often.
