To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom s Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NBA team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they re out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at tips@deadspin.com. Today: The Los Angeles Lakers.

The team with the most wins (2,621 going into this season), the highest winning percentage (61.9 percent), the most consecutive wins in a season (33), the most NBA Finals appearances (28) and the second-most championships (14) began life as the Detroit Gems in 1946. They were sold for $15,000 the following season and relocated to Minneapolis, choosing George Mikan in the dispersal draft. You know the rest. Jack Nicholson is an avid fan, but did you know that the Red Hot Chili Peppers also rarely miss a game? As for the blogs, they are also red hot. Check out three of the best:

3. Club Lakers. More original content would be nice, and the layout is a bit whacked. But "Crucifido's Corner" has some of the best NBA insight you will find.

2. Yannis' Lakers Journal. Back after a brief break from blogging, this site is a Laker fan afavorite.

1. Show Time. Consistent, observant and with a devotion to the Lakers without being fawning.

<![CDATA[Blogdom's Best: Memphis Grizzlies]]> It might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. Today: The Memphis Grizzlies.

That bear in the team logo looks mighty pissed off — and you would be too, if your franchise had never won a darned thing since its inception in 1995. That includes when it was the Vancouver Grizzlies — the first NBA team, along with the Toronto Raptors, to play in Canada since the Toronto Huskies in 1947. Bet you didn't know, by the way, that on the original franchise application to the NBA, the team name was listed as the Vancouver Mounties. That would have been so sweet. But the Canadian goverment, killjoys that they are, nixed the deal, claiming that the name was copyrighted. Of course that never stopped that stupid Dudley Dooright movie with Brendan Frasier. So today we could have been watching the Memphis Mounties. And that would have been cool. Oh, another reason the logo bear is peeved — there's only one Grizzlies blog out there. Come on, people!

1. On the Grizzlies. This claims to be "one man's obsession" by a "rabid Grizzlies fan." But the rabies seem to have been cured sometime over the summer, when posting became infrequent.

<![CDATA[Blogdom's Best: Portland Trail Blazers]]> PortlandTrailblazers.jpgIt might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. Today: The Portland Trail Blazers.

You can talk about your Wilt Chamberlain, your Shaquille O'Neal, your Bill Russell, your Kareem Lew Abdul Alcindor Jabbar. For our money, for one season in 1977, there was no better center in the history of the NBA than Bill Walton. The Trail Blazers won their only championhip that year (the same year that Elvis, Bing Crosby and Groucho Marx all bit the dust, by the way). Back then, Walton was a big guy with a speech impediment who was a rebounding machine. Today, well, he doesn't rebound much anymore. As for the speech impediment, you be the judge. The (Jail) Blazers are now owned by Paul Allen, as that early Microsoft gang continues in its quest to own and rule the entire West coast. As for the Blazers' current state of affairs, let's check the blogs.

3. The Inferno. "The closest I ve come to marriage is the Blazers. They have become a sort of haphazard wife. The marriage began in the late 80 s, and like any relationship, it has climbed mountains and fell into dark valleys. The Blazers and I have, to say the least, had our moments of intense love and deep hatred."

2. Blazers' Fire. Kudos are in order for exposing Dennis Rodman and hios agent for saying that the Blazers had offered Rodman a tryout, when in fact that appears not to have been the case. Blazers' Fire

1. Blazers Baskteball. They brought us the news that Sebastian Telfair was fined and suspended for bringing a handgun onto the team plane. Plus, pictures of Ralph Waldo Emerson. This blog has all the tools.

<![CDATA[Blogdom's Best: Dallas Mavericks]]> It might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. Today: The Dallas Mavericks.

Things we didn't know about Mark Cuban: One of his first jobs was as a powdered milk salesman; He attended Indiana University, working his way through college by giving disco lessons; He grew up in Pittsburgh; He bought the Mavericks from a group headed by Ross Perot. Heh. Hard as we try, we just can't picture what a Mavericks blog written by Ross Perot would look like. Well, maybe we can picture the title: "Can I Finish?" Anyway, Cuban has made the Mavericks into one of the most exciting NBA teams to talk about, if not to actually watch; Dallas hasn't won anything during his tenure. But hey, this could be the year! After all, the Mavericks are the only team to have players from Germany, Russia and the Congo. To confirm, let's look at the blogs.

3. Da Mavs. A little funky, a little message board-ish, but a great spot to sit a while and study the Mavs.

2. Rebel Ballin'. Old school blogging. We made up the term, and we don't know what it means.

1. Blog Maverick. What can we say? More fun than a squirrel on water skis.

<![CDATA[Blogdom's Best: Phoenix Suns]]> PhoenixSuns.jpgIt might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they re out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at tips@deadspin.com. Today: The Phoenix Suns.

We're beginning to think that professional sports in Arizona is some sort of a scam — nothing more than a tax writeoff, or maybe a front for a gambling cartel. We could find only one really good Suns blog — kind of the same situation as with the NFL Cardinals, actually. What's the deal? Is it just too damned hot to care? How could one not care about a team with a history that includes Charles Barkley, the Van Arsdales, Connie Hawkins, Jason Kidd and native son Amar Stoudemire? Heck, now we're even considering starting a blog. Well, let's take a look at what we've got.

3. Rising Suns. A good blog gone bad — no new posts since December. Here's hoping they return soon.

2. Hooplog: Phoenix Suns. Hooplog does a good job keeping tabs on all NBA teams. Good thing for Suns fans that they do.

1. Phoenix Suns. Good writing and reporting, with a genuine love for the Suns. Plus, right now they don't really have any competition.

<![CDATA[Blogdom's Best: Denver Nuggets]]> It might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. Today: The Denver Nuggets.

Dan Issel, Bobby Jones, David Thompson ... these are names longtime Nuggets fans know well. Remember the rainbow striped jerseys, and coach Larry Brown? (Whatever happened to him?) We also loved the old logo, depicting a miner finding an ABA ball (insert Marv Albert sound byte here: "Not what he had in mind!"). A 32-8 record over the second half of last season had given Nuggets fans hope that 2005-06 could be when they finally got their first NBA championship. And hey, they're in first place in the Northwest Division. Then how come, we wonder, more people aren't blogging this team on a consistent basis? Let's investigate:

3. Nuggets Nook. Very inconsistent posting, but their latest is a doozy — claiming that Kenyon Martin sent two friends into the stands to threaten a fan who had been heckling him. Is this the new trend in the NBA? Stay tuned.
2. Nuggets Bits and Bites. A solid blog with a healthy distaste for Carmelo Anthony's antics ... but no new posts in about a month. What gives?
1. Solid Gold. If you want the latest Nuggets news seasoned with great commentary, stop the car — this is the place.
