This picture, via the tremendous Big League Stew at Yahoo(!) (and several other places) shows the Brewers broadcaster enjoying one of the perks of life on the road, watching JJ Hardy and Corey Hart (sans sunglasses) playing a game of ping pong. Make fun if you want, but if I look like that when I'm 108 years-old I'll be one happy fucking blogger And yes, I'm drunk.

Enjoy your night.

<![CDATA[The Brewers Meet The Furries]]>
When the Milwaukee Brewers played in Pittsburgh this week, they ended up staying at the same hotel as a Furry Convention. (It's actually the Furry Convention.) That's Bob Uecker and one of them above. The notion of the Milwaukee Brewers hanging out in the same hotel as Furries might seem funny to you, but not to Brewers broadcaster Jim Powell.

Virtually everyone, even those who looked otherwise "normal", had a tail sticking out of their clothes in the back. Players and staff reported neighboring rooms generating loud animal noises, barking and other, deep into the night. At first it was kind of funny to see these people wandering around the downtown streets and filing into the hotel, but after the novelty wore off it just made everyone feel creepy. The "furries" seem harmless enough, but people who think they might be an animal trapped in a human body just are unnervingly odd, to say the least.

Perhaps this is why the Brewers struggled so much in Pittsburgh this week; it can be difficult to sleep when you're hearing howls of Furries all night. It can be difficult to sleep just thinking about it now, actually.

<![CDATA[Some Things You See That You Can't Unsee]]> We've already mentioned the peculiarity of Bob Uecker having an obsessed stalker, and yesterday the woman, Ann Ladd, was ordered to stay 1,000 feet away from the Brewers broadcaster at all times. (Which means she can actually sit in the front row. Ahem.) Ladd will also not be allowed to attend any Brewers games, another attempt to ease the suffering of an obviously disturbed individual.

But we'd like to focus on Ladd's mug shot for a moment. First off, we're kind of amazed by the lighting they're using over at the Cook County Jail; this almost has a kind of Herb Ritts feel. Second: Shiver. We can't possibly imagine why Uecker would this woman to keep her distance from him. You what, everyone? Tell 'em Large Marge sent ya.

And, lastly: It's absolutely certain we will not sleep well tonight.

<![CDATA[One Flew Over The Broadcast Booth]]> Monday's nagging question is, where's Mr. Belvedere when you really need him? Absent a fussy English butler to turn away crazies at the door, Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker has been left to his own devices to fend off dedicated fans apparent mental cases like Ann Ladd. The Smoking Gun reports that Uecker, 72, has taken out a restraining order on the 45-year-old woman, who has been bothering him for several years. Or so he says. It could just be another bit:

Any high-profile ballplayer like I was gets his share of crazy fans. I remember one night in particular, this woman was pounding on my hotel room door for an hour straight. Foaming at the mouth, crazed look in her eyes. I finally had to let her out.

Ba-dum-pum!
