UPDATE: From Hervey, "Tony was on my stage for hours, but the song he is shown singing in the photo was his special request, "Livin' On A Prayer."

I was determined not to make any fumbling-the-extra-point-snap jokes, but the song does include the lyrics "We've got to hold on, ready or not ...", and damn it, I'm not made of stone.

The Dog Is Skeptical That Maury Povich Can Make Par [Deadspin]

The funny part is that about a minute before I took this photo, the dog was throwing back a Coors Light. He had a better seat than I did for the final round of the Celebrity Golf Tournament; at the beach overlooking the 18th hole at Edgewood Tahoe. The dog's name is Tippy; unless that's the woman's name (her answer was not clear). They both witnessed The Triumph of Chandler ... Chris Chandler that is, who captured his first American Century title on Sunday with a five-point victory over Rick Rhoden.

Chandler, who twice birdied three consecutive holes and finished with a 5-under 67, had a tournament-record 78 points in the Stableford scoring system. He dedicated the win to his father-in-law, former 49ers quarterback John Brodie, who suffered a near-fatal stroke in 2000 and is still recovering. Brodie followed Chandler throughout the tournament in a golf cart.

I didn't stick around to find out, but I'm pretty sure that last place went to Charles Barkley, shown here contemplating suicide on Saturday after only nine holes. Barkley didn't get in as much gambling this year as he usually does; on Saturday night he took 100 Tahoe area firefighters to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at Harveys Casino, picking up the entire check. He also donated $25,000 to families who lost their homes in the Angora fire earlier this month. Oh, and a fine moment in the tournament on Saturday ... on the 17th fairway, someone threw Jerry Rice a football, and he dropped it.
