The damage is done now, sadly, but we're asking Pedro Martinez and Hall of Famer Juan Marichal (who was also present at the event) to take part in our "Developing Empathy For Animals" training seminar, which Michael Vick voluntarily attended after being charged, so hopefully some good will come of it. We're also calling on the league to offer animal-sensitivity training for MLB players.

Yes, PETA is calling for commissioner Bud Selig to require all MLB players to attend animal-sensitivity training sessions. I see absolutely no way this will fail to happen. Martinez and Marichal laugh before releasing the roosters. The two took part as honorary "soltadores," the word used to describe the person who puts the animal to fight. The animal released by Martinez appears to be killed on the video, which was posted Tuesday on YouTube. The fight takes place in the Coliseo de Gallos (Rooster Coliseum) in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic's biggest cockfighting venue. Cockfighting is legal and popular in the Dominican Republic.

So do not let us take the news that the Coop Bowl has been tainted by the scourge that is performance enhancers. It is time for moral outrage.

More than 32 people were arrested and more than $4,000 in cash plus about 30 roosters seized Sunday morning in northwest York County in a multijurisdictional raid that officers called "Coop Bowl."

Officers believe they raided the fight during the second or third fight at about 11 a.m. The found one dead rooster and two injured. The roosters had spurs fixed to their talons and had been injected with a stimulant to enhance their aggression, Wells said.

I do feel that cockfighting is a vile, disgusting, and inhumane thing, but you know, that's never stopped us from having Raiders games, so who am I to judge? We can all learn something here, like for instance, the five different forms of cockfighting. There is bare-spurred, there is one with little shoes on the spurs (for the cocks who are pussies), there is one with a plastic arm attached to the spur, there's one with "a little steel axe," on the spur, and then there is the cockfighting we're all more familiar with, the one with a razor-sharp blade attached to the spur. My cock is undefeated in such battles.
