So here's something scary we learned from Wikipedia just now: Doug Gottlieb is younger than we are.

We're almost exactly three months older than Doug Gottlieb; that's kind of terrifying. We've truly wasted our life.

Doug hasn't, though; he's played for Oklahoma State, been on ESPN for six years, been kicked out out of Notre Dame and pretty much had a full existence. And he's younger than we are. Heavens.

Anyway: Do you like the Doug Gottlieb? Do you not like the Doug Gottlieb? Let us know.

Doug Gottlieb Does Not Like Your Taunts

We don't have as big a problem with ESPN college basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb as some others do. He tends to make Big Controversial Statements, but a lot of the time, he's willing to anger people rather than play the usual "hey, coach, great game!" back-slapping role of the typical hoops analyst. Though it appears that anger card is legitimate; don't question Doug Gottlieb, or he'll come after you.

Gottlieb famously rang up thousands of dollars in charges on his roommate's credit card in college, a youthful indiscretion he still hasn't been able to live down. Witness this exchange from his ESPN Chat earlier this week.

Mike Indiana: How did your mediocre basketball career prepare you for a mediocre broadcasting career?
Doug Gottlieb: (4:04 PM ET ) So your mediocre life can prepare you for a mediocre afterlife...and by the way, which one of us works for ESPN... hey and next time...when I you say 30 minutes or less....get here on time with my pizza.
John (Notre Dame): Doug, I lost my credit card, where were you last night?

Johns Mom (Notre Dame): GOTTLIEB I KNOW YOU STOLE MY SON'S CREDIT CARD!

Doug Gottlieb Makes Positive Contribution To Society

If you were looking for a new derisive term for the Duke Blue Devils and were growing tired of "Dookies," Doug Gottlieb may have improved your life last night. He referred to the Duke fellas as "Floorslappers," and it already appears to be a hit.

Floorslappers. That's not bad. It's a little sarcastic, a little acerbic, without being outright profane. It might just catch on. Of course, as they point out on the KU message board, it could result in Gottlieb being fired, as everyone in Bristol appears to be contractually obligated to love Duke. I'd hate to see Gottlieb go the way of Trev Alberts.

I've never been sure how to feel about the guy. There are times when it seems like he's the only one willing to go on record with a strong opinion, and there are times when he seems so smug, and so unwilling to consider someone else's viewpoint. He's kinda like a white Stephen A. Smith.
