    15% minimum

    20% for average service

    25% for above average service

    30% for a handjob while being fed filet mignon

    @Wild_Horse_of_the_Osage: 15% minimum is what you expected? Hell no.


    15% is for average service. 10% is for when you leave the patron sitting there for 15 minutes with closed menus (we close the menus to let you know we're ready to order) and no cocktails. 5% is for when you leave us there for 20 minutes with a cleared table and no check (because after that amount of time, we're not ordering drinks from you).


    20% is for above average service.


    And as Mr. Pink famously observed, the words "too fucking busy" shouldn't be in a waitresses vocabulary.


    15% is still standard and socially acceptable for average service.

    This is why tipping on percentages never made sense to me. If I order six $300 bottles, I have to tip twice as much than if I oredered six $150 bottles WHY? The staff is doing absolutely the same amount of work, but if for some reason they jack up the price of your drinks, they deserve more money. And EXACTLY 20% would'be been 360. He could've used that other nine bucks to buy his girl some mouthwash.
