    This is getting ugly. Reports now point to an attempted coverup by hospital staff and the mayor is pissed. Reportedly the nightclub did not report the incident to the police and was painted the next day before the cops could get there. Bloomberg is pretty much telling the DA that he wants heads to roll. Fun times.

    @formerly Chief Wahoo: But will they? I think what's going to happen is Burress is going to say he was fearful for his life, with the S. Smith thing, and S. Taylor getting his inducted into the ring of honor on Sunday, and the rash of incidents like these.


    I think it's a HUGE error to paint him as a "thug." He's an idiot, that's what he is. He's not a tough guy, tough guys don't go out and drink wine at Midtown bars. Honestly, he probably thought this was a safer thing to do than hire a security guard.


    Again, the man is an idiot.

    @The Muggsy Bogues Redux Experiment: I have had a few brief dealings with Bloomberg, and I've seen the Mayor absolutely brutalize very powerful men in public when he's got his blood up about something. I would not want to be on the wrong side of this one. He's nastier than you think.

    @formerly Chief Wahoo: it's a shame because for a guy who originally ran as a Republican, Bloomberg seemed for a while like he was going to do more good than Giuliani but it looks like that 3 terms idea might not have been so great after all

    @Alexander Holt: Bloomberg was never a real Republican, nor did he pretend to be. It was purely a formality and nothing more. I have areas where I agree with the man and areas where I disagree with him. Overall I feel he's been pretty good for the city. His dismantling of the school system beauracracy alone is a substantial legacy to leave, if he could do the same with the MTA and the Port Authority he'd be a hero. His biggest fault for me is his refusal to reconsider his position once he makes up his mind, the Olympic bid and west side stadium proposal being prime examples.
