Idaho’s football program is 1-2, and some anonymous Vandals fan (or fans) is completely fed up with head coach Paul Petrino. Per the Spokesman-Review, “hundreds” of flyers calling for Petrino’s firing were spread around the university’s campus Monday night.
According to the Moscow (Idaho) Police Department, three Idaho football players stole about $400 worth of clothes from the university store on Aug. 16. No charges were filed, however, because head coach Paul Petrino returned all the gear and no one remembers the players who stole the stuff.
A word of advice: Idaho football coach Paul Petrino—who has gotten heated before—will flip out if you lightly criticize his team. Do not cross him.
Idaho men's basketball coach Don Verlin lost his shit on assistant coach Chris Helbling during Thursday's game against Northern Arizona. The video quality isn't great, but you can see Verlin yell at Helbling before tossing his play cards and motioning for him to get the hell out. (Helbling did get the hell out.)
Washington State thumped Idaho 42-0 last night in what was yet another pointless NCAA football blowout, but the game in Pullman at least had some postgame fireworks—thanks to the head coaches, who had to be separated.
Idaho petitioned the Idaho State Board of Education for the right to leave the WAC-which will likely cease football-related operations next year-and continue playing FBS football as an independent in 2013, joining teams like BYU, Army and Navy. The right was granted, and Idaho saved its football team. Uh…good?
