    The Islanders are not only bad, but also irrelevant. Not just in NY, but in the NHL. Worst of both worlds. (Also irrelevant; see Timberwolves, Minnesota, Grizzlies, Memphis, Panthers, Florida, Coyotes, Phoenix)

    Here's an idea.....make your team the worst team in the league, cut back on expense (no jacuzzi, no team plane), hire a bunch of old and young, inexperienced players, offer to sell team to a person in Florida. I think I saw that in a movie once.

    even as Rangers fan, sucks for wang. Not even just the problems getting the arena for the Isles but that it was supposed to be a project to benefit the area itself, the polar opposite of Ratner's Brooklyn project.


    Also sucks that Milbury's tenure at GM will define his as owner.I know he hired him, but guess the thing people always forget is sometimes as much as they know the guy isn't doing the job he made a commitment to the guy they hired and there's that whole "my word is my bond" virtue to some businessmen.


    thought wang was a moron till I sat with him at a dinner event, good intentions that just blew up in his face.

    /dick joke to get it out of the way.


    If the Isles sold out every game, and advanced to the cup finals, as per the NHL and their own CFO, Wang would still lose 10-15 million due to the terms of the lease. He wants to pay for this himself, the County wants the project, its the Town of Hempstead that is holding it up. I am probably going to lose my hockey team. Fuck them all.

    @crazyjoedavola: I for one am supportive of the Islanders staying put. I can't imagine them not being there.


    I went to that arena in 07 and it is a dump. (It made CAA seem state of the art at the time). They definitely have a raw deal there too.
