    It's a shock that a recovering alcoholic and drug abuser fell off the wagon? That shit happens. A lot. I don't remember him saying he was cured and healthy again forever.
    Not that I give a shit about any of this.

    The Rangers said they are planning before today's game to address photos posted by the Web site deadspin.com that appear to show Josh Hamilton drinking and carrying on bar in Arizona over the winter. Accompanying the photos is a story in which Rangers coach and Hamilton confident Johnny Narron casts doubt about the validity of the photos.

    These pics seem to be a bit out of order based on his level of shirted-ness. I bring this up because in #10 his fly seems to be undone, which makes me wonder if somewhere between #10 or #1 (or #6) there was a Santonio / Cooley moment.
    Just saying, this could be the tip of iceberg.

    @Lizabelle: The Rangers are investigating. Hamilton is aware these photos exist. Statements, no comments, excuses, explanations shall be forthcoming.
    I am assuming this means that AJ tried to give him and the Rangers an opportunity to respond and they declined.

    Deadspin is turning into the NY Post in terms of sleezyness. This is so stupid. The guy is out having a good time and all the sudden he is back down a dark path. Sure, he is married, thats not good, but c'mon, this is just stupid.

    @Cooler Than Warm Milk: I gotta agree on one count: I see nothing here to indicate he was drunk. If he's not, DS is manufacturing the story by getting a Rangers rep to say "I'd be surprised if Josh was in a bar." Now he has to deny that.
    In a bar does not equal drunk, or even drinking. And that an athlete would be messing around with girls? Not surprising.
    Maybe he was drunk, who knows. But there's no proof.

    @Cooler Than Warm Milk: Did you miss the part where he talks non-stop about god and how religion saved him, his marriage and helped him kick his boozing and drug habits? Because that is kind of relevant.

    @Pedro Cuatro Cinco: When did I say he was drinking? I said the fact that he is a bible thumper who professes his faith saved him from a debilitating addiction etc. in conjunction with the photos makes this relevant and not "stupid" or just a guy "having a good time."
    Also you "see nothing to indicate he was drunk" is giving him a hell of a lot of leeway considering he is shirtless, licking whipped cream off tits, having whipped cream licked off his chest etc.


    I wonder if this were Vince Young if everyone would be running to defend him.

    @Pedro Cuatro Cinco: Yeah. That was all taken into consideration. These aren't Kyle Orton photos or Matt Leinart photos. Regardless if the guy is drunk in the photos or not, this is totally contradictory to his public persona -- one that he's profited off of handsomely. Also, I would find it shocking that sober/Jesus-lovin' Josh Hamilton concedes to a photo shoot in a bar with women where he's doing body shots off of their tits. Booze or no booze, I don't think that's part of his recovery plan.

    @DAULERIO: Yeah, sorry that I reacted so quickly, I just didn't see all the text, which put them in context. I'm just a little worried about pics with no context at all -- I mean, I know (sober) alcoholics who are capable of going to bars once in a while for, like, quiz night. Mixing that with an athletes tendency to frolic with ladies who aren't their wives, I was worried about a jump to conclusions. But the backstory shows that this isn't just news, it's big news, and good job on reporting it out.
