    @Tyler Young: Junior from age 31-36 averaged about 21 home runs a season. That's because of injury. If he had averaged 40 home runs -- he averaged 44 the six years before -- he's got like 740 home runs and would almost certainly break the record. So that's one of the all-time could-have beens.

    That said, Ken Sr. could have been even better, I think, if given the chance.

    Just want to say that anyone who DOESNT read Joe's blog is missing some of the best writing anywhere, not just sports related.

    No new stat ... I spent much of the morning trying to convince Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre to give Ultimate Zone Rating a try. I didn't get very far.

    @Cixelsyd: Two little kids, so I only see movies on TV like eight years after they came out. But "The Express" was really disappointing, which is tough because I didn't really expect that much out of it. I give every movie a plus/minus -- I think I expected a pleasant 2 1/2 star movie and got a 1 star movie. So a dreadful minus-1 1/2 experience for The Express.

    With the news yesterday that Bobby Cox is coming back for one more year and retiring, what are your thoughts on him and the Braves? Too much blame for only one WS in 14 post season appearances?

    @Matt_T: I think he probably does get too much blame for them only winning the one World Series -- Bobby Cox might be the best manager in baseball history when it comes to guiding a team through a season. The 1996 Braves World loss was really a bad one for them -- they were better than that Yankees team, and if they win that one, it's back-to-back and Cox has his due place in history. He'll be in the Hall of Fame.

    @Bobby Big Wheel: Copout answer -- somewhere in between. Maybe closer to 98 Yankees. Pete was wild but he didn't drink. Johnny didn't drink much. George Foster read the Bible a lot. Joe Morgan read adventure comic books.
